Each month we've been taking your questions about the sections of the bible that we've been reading and then spending some time talking through some possible answers. This month it was Leviticus. You can jump through to the questions at these points:
1. (1:23) How frequently were these offerings made/required?
2. (6:49) Lev 21:16-23 - Why were all these people excluded, and for generations to come? / Leviticus repeatedly emphasises the need for physical perfection both in priests and sacrifices. Why was this so important to God?
3. (17:10) What is the salt of the covenant?
4. (24:11) Lev 3:16 - What does it mean "all the fat is the Lords" and why?
5. (28:23) Why kill anything in order to act as a sacrifice/substitute? Why does there have to be death?
6. (35:53) What was the grain offering for?
7. (42:02) Blood is sprinkled on the sides of the altar in most offerings but in chapter 4 it is put on the horns of the altar. Why is this different?
Follow up Questions on the night: 8. (48:43) Why was the blood sprinkled on the sides of the altar in the other offerings?
9. (52:04) In modern day Jerusalem do non Messianic Jews still make sacrifices?
10. (57:41) Why males for some offerings and females for others?
