Country Roads Confidential: A WVU Mountaineers podcast

Is a quarterback change coming? Can quarterback recruiting change? HOw can a developmental prospect change while not playing? All that and more on football and basketball in today's edition.

The transfer portal spins, but sports go on at WVU. Questions focus on how the many jobs work and what direction decision-makers should take in the future.

With recent and confusing news in the rear view mirror, it's time to refocus on spring football and the offseason for basketball and football for today's Q&A podcast.

We have a lot to say after everything that happened Monday.

The spring game was back at West Virginia Saturday, and the Mountaineers tried their best to make it worthwhile. They probably pulled it off, too. Neal Brown capped a big week with a pleasant afternoon of football, and there's plenty to discuss, like and improve in the aftermath.

After a one-year hiatus out of WVU's control, the spring game is back. The annual Gold-Blue Game is back at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon on ESPN+'s Big 12 now. But first, a discussion of what's been happening and what to expect and not expect at Mountaineer Field.

The hosts get right to work with a divisive topic and then make plans for new and former football players, for a current and perhaps soon-to-be former player, for WVU's athletic department and for the best untold stories in recent memory.

It's not just the basketball players looking to advance their careers at West Virginia. WVU might be looking for an assistant coach before long during an offseason peppered with speculation about who's leaving and who's showing up. Plus: Make-or-break for Neal Brown? Press Virginia back? Pauly Paulicap? Starting lineup on defense? And more!

Bob Huggins went to the transfer portal. He might not be done yet. Dimon Carrigan will help, but what will another addition offer? Who's coming back? Who's not? And how will the football team's offense adapt?
