  • 14. POV: Getting the F Out of Survival Mode

Survival mode is the state we end up in after years of unresolved trauma, stress, and pain. Survival mode is contraction, fear, and disconnection.

Some signs of survival mode are:

      • Difficulty finishing an activity, zoning out, losing focus
      • Harder time remembering things
      • Exhaustion in mind and body
      • Having bigger emotional reactions than usual
      • Neglecting basic needs
      • Impulsivity
      • Wanting to withdraw or isolate from others
      • Trouble trusting others
      • Jumpy, more on edge

      • If you're experiencing any of these or all of these it's likely you've been stuck in survival mode for a long time. I know you're ready to be free, to have a new experience, to live a life you enjoy. I know you're ready to feel free to be all of who you are, unapologetically. I know you're ready to have the energy to start that book, business, relationship, and project. I know you want to feel alive and present and smiley without reason. I know you're ready for a life of freedom, power, and joy. If this is you click this link to book a call with me.

Maybe even thinking about someone seeing you at those degrees gives you a little chill up your spine, if that's you this episode will tell you exactly how I began to SEE myself first and then feel safe being seen by others.

Diving deeper, Chelsea discusses the importance of facing our emotional triggers head-on, encouraging us not to shy away from the discomfort but to welcome it as a sign of readiness for healing. She empowers listeners with the knowledge that emotions need only 90 seconds to process, urging us to allow them the space to move through us and transform our pain into progress.

Throughout the episode, Chelsea provides actionable strategies for those heavy days, from throwing an adult tantrum to engaging in physical activities that reaffirm our strength and self-worth. She also introduces the concept of a 'hype file' – a collection of reminders of our achievements and strengths to combat the brain's negativity bias and restore our sense of accomplishment and self-love.

Chelsea's heartfelt guidance culminates in a powerful meditative exercise, inviting listeners to turn inward, acknowledge the parts of themselves that need attention, and release the radiant light of healing that lies within. This episode isn't just about coping with the hard days; it's a profound reminder that every step on the path of healing, no matter how small, is a step towards a brighter, more authentic self.

So, whether you're a seasoned traveler on the road to recovery or just taking your first steps, this episode of Start Thriving is a beacon of hope and a testament to the strength and resilience that lies within us all. Remember, healing is not a linear journey, and on those days when you feel like you're barely treading water, Chelsea is here to remind you that you are learning to swim.

For those seeking a deeper dive into their healing journey, Chelsea offers transformative one-on-one coaching and invites listeners to explore her 30-day Body Balance program for a structured approach to nervous system regulation. And as always, she encourages the community to connect and share their experiences, because together, we can create waves of change.

Don't let this episode pass you by – it's not just a conversation, but a warm embrace for anyone who needs to hear that their healing matters and their light is ready to shine.

Healing is NOT about getting rid of your anxiety, depression, insecurity, doubt, shame, and grief rather it is about MAKING SPACE for those emotions to exist. It is shifting our relationship with our emotions that welcomes change. It is understanding, accepting, and feeling through our emotions that will allow us to realize what we need to survive and why we no longer have to choose it. That is when we can create profound & lasting growth.

      • 7. Scarcity to Abundance: Unraveling Trauma's Tight Hold on Your Mindset

In this transformative episode of Start Thriving, our insightful host Chelsea Bartell delves into the profound connection between scarcity mindset and trauma, unraveling the tightly knit threads that bind our sense of worth to our past. Chelsea's deep understanding of the trauma-informed nervous system sets the stage for a candid discussion on how our childhood experiences of chaos and hardship shape our adult perceptions of abundance and self-value.

Chelsea courageously confronts the comforting lies we tell ourselves to maintain an illusion of safety, and challenges listeners to take radical ownership of their healing journey. She debunks the myth of being "not enough" with the empowering truth that our self-worth was never the problem—it was the environment and the people who failed to provide safety and nurture.

Listeners are invited to shift their perspective from a survival mindset to one of abundance, learning to ask "How can I?" instead of succumbing to "I can't." Chelsea's personal anecdotes about investing in herself, despite financial uncertainty, illustrate the power of making decisions from the perspective of our healed selves, rather than our current, fear-driven state.

This episode is a call to action, urging us to honor the resilience of our past selves by making choices that reflect the powerful, independent adults we have become. Chelsea offers a compassionate yet firm reminder that while trauma was not our fault, healing is indeed our responsibility.

For those who feel a resonance with Chelsea's words and are ready to take the leap into profound self-discovery and emotional freedom, she extends an invitation to apply for her coaching program. This program promises to guide you through nervous system regulation and emotional processing, reclaiming lost parts of yourself, and unlocking the gifts they hold.

As a special incentive, Chelsea is offering two additional hour-long sessions for those who apply by October 20th. This is more than a podcast episode—it's a gateway to a new chapter of healing and growth. Apply now, and take the first step towards a life where thriving is not just a dream, but your reality.

      • 6. The Attachment Awakening: Understanding Your Blueprint for Connection

In this raw and transformative episode of Start Thriving, our deeply insightful host Chelsea l opens her heart to listeners, sharing the tumultuous journey through the landscape of attachment wounds and the cathartic release of an "adult tantrum." With the same vulnerability and courage she brings to each episode, Chelsea invites us into her personal experience of confronting the anger and pain that arises from the unmet needs of our childhoods.

Chelsea takes us on a profound exploration of attachment theory, breaking down the ways our early relationships with caregivers shape our sense of safety and our patterns of connecting with others. From the anxious to the avoidant, she illuminates the spectrum of attachment styles, providing a compassionate understanding of how these patterns manifest in our adult lives.

Listeners will be riveted as Chelsea recounts her own confrontation with anger—a powerful emotion that signals where our boundaries have been crossed and where we have been given less than we deserve. She encourages embracing this anger, not as a force of destruction, but as a catalyst for change and healing. Through her story, we learn that anger, when expressed in a safe and intentional way, can be a gateway to reclaiming our power and establishing healthier boundaries.

This episode is not only a masterclass in emotional awareness but also a call to action. Elsie challenges us to be brave, to acknowledge the parts of ourselves that are still hurting, and to become the cycle breakers in our families. She honors the strength it takes to carry the weight of generational healing and celebrates the victories that come with each step forward.

As the episode draws to a close, Chelsea guides listeners through a powerful regulation exercise, teaching us to listen to our bodies, ask the hard questions, and offer compassion to the parts of ourselves that need it most. This is a moment of collective breathing, a shared experience of unraveling the pain to reveal the light within.

Join Chelsea for an episode that is as much a healing session as it is a conversation, and walk away with a deeper understanding of your attachment style, the role of anger in healing, and the importance of self-compassion. This is your invitation to transform your trauma into triumph, to stop surviving and start thriving.

For those ready to take their healing journey further, Chelsea offers a variety of resources, including her one-on-one coaching program and the self-paced 30-day program Body Balance, designed to release your nervous system from survival mode and help you embody your power, joy, and peace. This episode delves into attachment theory and how it unconsciously controls our money, friendships, careers, family dynamics, and relationships. When left unchecked your attachment style can be damaging to the way you connect with others and feel fulfilled in your life. In working to heal my attachment style I had to throw a big ass adult tantrum and it was amazing.
