  • Ep. 65 - Mandalorian Season 2 - Mid-Season Recap/Breakdown

    Send us Fan Mail

For Season 1 of The Mandalorian we did a full episode by episode recap, but in hindsight, we felt like a half hour series didn't really have enough meat on its bones for a full episode by episode after-show.

So, for Season 2 we are going to do 2 recap shows, one for mid-season and one for the end of the season. So come join us as we breakdown the first four episodes of Season 2 of the The Mandalorian. We'll unpack the characters, the cast, the creators, the places, the story lines, and of course the lore. And how it all connects. So, don't be a scruffy nerd herder, click that play button.

  • Ep. 63 - New Mutants - To see, or not to see....

    Send us Fan Mail

With the New Mutants headed for digital release and Blu-ray in the coming weeks, we thought it was the perfect time to finally sit down and discuss this highly scrutinized film from Fox. Now this definitely wasn't your typical Meanwhile crew film review. This was more of us giving you our best arguments for why you should, or shouldn't see this film. Truth is, we had mixed feelings about this film, but we definitely didn't agree with most of the critics, actually we felt their takes were pretty harsh, and over the top. So, not only did we discuss the film, but we even took the time to discuss some of the harsher criticisms New Mutants received, now were they just? Or the ravings of a bunch of wannabe comedians posing as wannabe film critics?

  • Ep. 62 - For those about to Ragnarok we salute you! - Celebrating Thor Ragnarok

    Send us Fan Mail

Well, the US Election wasn't the only thing happening on November 3rd, this past Tuesday marked the 3 year anniversary of Thor Ragnarok, a fan favourite of Comic Book film fans, not to say the film didn't have its detractors, it certainly did. But the one thing you can say with absolute certainty about this film, is that it made Taika Waititi one of the world hottest directors, and changed the world of Thor forever! The question is though, was this change to Thor for the better? We plan on answer this question and many more on this episode as we look back at Thor Ragnarok. Don't miss it!

  • Ep. 61 - Star Wars, after the Skywalkers & The Mandalorian Season 2 Preview

    Send us Fan Mail

For a lot of us, The Rise Of Skywalker did not deliver on its promise. But for some of us it did. Now I don' care which camp you fall into, to each their own. However, with the Skywalker saga at a conclusion, I can't help but feel that the Star Wars franchise still has a lot of hope for the future. With Season 2 of the Mandalorian dropping this week, there was lots to talk about. And in true Meanwhile form we delved deep to explore not only The Mandalorian, but everything Star Wars. And Frank drops a Disney/Death Star analogy that will give you hope again. Don't miss this one.

  • Ep. 58 - The M in MCU is for Multiverse Pt. 1

Note: Audio quality for a few of our hosts was not the best, our apologies.

Now we have been putting out a lot of DC content as of late, and rightfully so, DC’s been smashing it! But this week, one would say this weeks episode is going to be MARVELOUS. That’s right friends, it’s all about the MCU today, Phase 4 to be exact. Some of the more recent announcements about new villains, returning villains, characters, and a certain Sorcerer Supreme have got the Meanwhile crew thinking Marvel is about to double down on their multiverse hard! And within that give us a live action Spiderverse. Now, this all sounds pretty awesome! But, you have to ask yourself, is this a good thing? Is this about creating the best story or is this a tit for tat game with DC? And could this potentially hurt the MCU? Well, just like we always we do, we are going to explore this from all angles. So, don't miss this one!

  • Ep. 57 - Between Pointed Ears - When Fans Attack

    Send us Fan Mail

Well, over the last couple of months. Fandom has reached a new level of insanity, just this past week. A developer who works on the Marvel Spiderman game, received some pretty egregious threats because he did a little remodeling to the Peter Parker character in the game. Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on the Mandalorian was targeted by Twitter users because she wouldn't add her pronouns to her Twitter bio. And season 2 of the boys was rating bombed by angry so called "fans" because the whole season wasn't made available on Prime like it had been in past seasons.

When did we go from celebrate, to hate? And how and why did it happen so fast? Well the Meanwhile Crew has some thoughts. So join us as we look back at some of fandom's darkest moments, and try to make sense of this age of fancanity.

  • Ep. 56- "The Man Without Fear" (1997)Daredevil Film Treatment breakdown - Pt. 2

    Send us Fan Mail

Note: There are a few technical glitches in this episode. Our apologies, producing podcasts during the apocalypse, is not without it's challenges. But it's a great episode!

If you did a Google search for comic book movies that were never made. You would be blown away, by not only the sheer number, but also by the number of fan favourite franchises, and characters that almost made it to the silver screen. One of these never to be films, that really peaked our curiosity was a 1997 Daredevil film that was to be produced by Hollywood legend, Chris Columbus. Now this project never went beyond the brainstorm stage, however there was a treatment written by a well respected comic book scribe, Jean Marc Dematteis, who's name you should recognize from possibly one of the greatest Spiderman stories of all time, Kraven's Last Hunt. Columbus tasked Dematteis with writing the treatment, but sadly the project never made it past those pages. Luckily though, the treatment found its way online, and I have to say, we had great time reading it!  It's a page turner! So come join us as we breakdown the 1997 film treatment by JM Dematteis "The Man Without Fear" act, by act.
