20 years ago, we all witnessed the birth of REAL comic book filmmaking. When I first saw this movies, I was 21 years old, a life long X-Men fan, since the time I could read I was reading X-Men comic books. In fact the first comic I ever bought was X-Men. And, I think it's fair to says, most of us, grew up with the X-Men, for some of us they were a touchstone in our adolescence. An allegory that perfectly summed up how most of us felt as children and as teenagers, long before geek was chic. When the word nerd didn't quite have the same mass appeal as it does today. With last week marking the 20th anniversary of this ground breaking film, Chris and I(Frank) thought it would be fun to do a little bonus episode for you guys. Now this is the first time we have ever done this, AND I'm a big fan of commentary tracks, so that is what we have for you guys in this episode. So the next time you watch X-Men, throw in some ear buds and join Chris and I. Hell, forget the ear buds, pretend we are telepathically linked and you can hear us in your head, now thats the way you do an X-Men film commentary.

With the Studio Ghibli roster making its debut on Netflix, the Meanwhile crew takes a look back at its most acclaimed hit, Spirited Away. Join Saba, Chris and Kristina in this second installment of our “Anime” series. Studio Ghibli and more specifically Spirited Away has always held a very special place in anime fans' hearts and we are no exceptions to that. We take a look at what makes this story so beloved and about our own experience with it. We also dive into the rich lore that creator and director Hayao Miyazaki has so generously sewn into the world. The unique mind of Hayao Miyazaki is responsible for the success of Studio Ghibli as a whole, so we also discuss the vision and scope behind his creations and what makes them special. With so many memorable characters from No-face to Haku, Yubaba to Zeniba, Chihiro to Bō (the scary giant spoiled baby), we don’t skimp out on our favorites. Join Chihiro at the bath house with the Meanwhile crew.

Note: Unfortunately, we had a technical issue while recording this episode and had to use a back up recording file for one of our co-hosts. We apologize and are confident you will enjoy this episode none the less.

The Meanwhile crew continues their "Comic Book Movies That Could Have Been" Series as Chris, Saba, Kristina, and Frank take a look back at George Miller's - Justice League: Mortal, if it wasn't for an untimely Hollywood writers strike, DC may have beat Marvel Studios' Avengers to the punch on team up comic book movies. (Yes, X-Men was first. But it wasn't a Marvel Studios film.) Drawing from some of DC's most beloved Justice League comic books, George Miller's vision for the Justice League was ambitious to the say the least.

Join us as we tell the tale of the Justice League movie that might have been!

Here the exciting conclusion here in Part 2 - https://www.buzzsprout.com/1190102/8385702
