Petite means small or dainty but the petite sirah is anything but dainty. This grape makes wine that is big and bold with intense fruit flavor. Petite sirah makes some pretty awesome wine so I was shocked to read that there is only about 10,000 acres worldwide, most of which are in California. So we are here to spread the petite sirah love!

Most of the wines we drink these days are research for the podcast. Not that I'm complaining, but this means that if we try a wine at a tasting or a friend's house, it might not fit into an episode. These wines can be forgotten so we had an idea to switch up the format of the podcast this week to include a few wines we're enjoying right now.

This week we discuss Monastrell (or you might know it but it's French name Mourvèdre). This wine is the third most grown red grape in Spain and makes a big, bold, meaty wine meant to be enjoyed with food. Since it's origins are Spanish, it's only fitting that we included in this series. We hope you enjoy. Cheers!

We continue with week three of our month of Spanish wines. The Garnacha grape has its origin in the Argon region of Spain (part of the Calatayud DO and makes some beautiful, low tannin, easy drinking wine. Spanish Garnacha was the first red wine we really fell in love with. It was only a matter of time before we dedicated an episode to these wines.
