This morning, Hank preached on Acts 16:25-40. Paul and Silas' response to prison is a little unorthodox. Rather than frustration or anger, they lift their voices in song to the Lord. Regardless of our circumstances, we can rejoice and take comfort in Christ Jesus. He is sovereign and sufficient for all of our needs.

Hank continues our Journey through the book of Acts in Chapter 16. As Paul and Silas continue to spread the gospel, they see the Lord faithfully save his people. After several days of being followed by a slave girl with a spirit of divination, Paul exorcises the spirit from within her. He and Silas are then jailed and put in stocks. Still, the Lord is faithful. Whether the gospel is spreading freely or we encounter persecution, in Christ we overcome.

After the initial confusion of whether Paul and Barnabas are false deities, their message is distorted by the Jews. The result is a stoning and being left for dead. Acts chapter 13 continues with the Apostle Paul preaching at a synagogue on the Sabbath. After being invited to share a word of encouragement, Paul begins to preach the news of Christ Jesus. The message of the cross is God securing salvation for His people. Simplified, it reads: God saves. We aren't saved because of our faithfulness or piety, we're saved because of the will of God. As we continue our journey through Acts, chapter 12 starts abruptly with the death of James. Herod intends to make the same example of Peter in days to come, but the Lord delivers him from earthly harm. James may have lost his life, but he was found immediately in the presence of Christ Jesus, his Lord. We may not always know why the Lord does things the way he does, but we know it is always for our good. We hope this sermon blesses you in the Lord.

As the church thrives in Acts, we see strife between the old and new Covenant. Cultures collide, but the resolution is possible because of the completed work of Christ Jesus. We hope this sermon blesses you in the Lord.

In Acts chapter 10, we see the church continuing to grow. After Peter receives a vision from the Lord, the church gets beautiful news- the Gentiles have been grafted into the promise. What we see is that the Lord shows no partiality, and salvation is completely His to give.
