Student Affairs Commitment to Racial Justice: Day of Action

August 12, 2020

On August 12, 2020, the student affairs community, as represented by your professional associations will come together as a unit to talk about how our profession can make tangible progress in addressing racial justice on American college campuses.

This will be an historic gathering of student affairs professionals across the widest spectrum of roles and functions. Student affairs must play a leading role in combating racism and ending racial violence.

Topics will include:

  • Research & Scholarship
  • Pathways to Leadership
  • Student Affairs Structures that Reinforce "White-dominant" Modalities
  • Graduate Preparation Programs and Curriculum
  • Burnout and Racial Battle Fatigue for New and Mid-level Student Affairs Professionals

The day will start with a welcome from the executive leaders of ten student affairs associations. Following the opening, each association will present a half-hour session from the perspective of their specific content area. The day will culminate with a capstone session, hosted by leaders from NASPA and ACPA.

This will be a free event available to the entire student affairs community. Registration is not required. Each association will broadcast on their individual Facebook Live Account. Links to access each association's Facebook Live broadcast are included in the schedule below.
