Freedom has never been created at the ballot box. Voting reflects the character of a people it does not transform it. Tyrants aren’t voted out, and revolutions usually just replace one form of slavery with another. Real freedom comes only as men and women are changed inwardly.

History shows that freedom rises where Christian faith is strong and declines as that faith fades. A nation becomes free only as its people become free in Christ one life at a time. Elections follow reformation; they do not produce it.

The real question isn’t who you vote for but whether there is a free man in your mirror.

In “The Power of Heresy,” Rushdoony warns that false belief often proves more influential than faithful theology, using Marcion as a historic example of how heresy undermines the unity of Scripture, separating law from grace, creation from redemption, and the Old Testament from the New. Marcion’s rejection of God’s law, his reduction of God to love alone, and his implicit dualism paved the way for antinomianism, dispensationalism, and moral confusion—errors Rushdoony sees echoed in much of modern evangelicalism. When law is treated as evil or irrelevant, grace becomes sentimentalism, justice is denied, and atonement itself is emptied of meaning, leaving no coherent reason for holiness or obedience. Orthodoxy, by contrast, affirms one sovereign God, one unified Bible, and one redemptive purpose in which law and gospel, justice and love, creation and salvation are inseparable. The real question Rushdoony presses is stark and unavoidable: are today’s churches shaped by historic Christianity—or by a baptized form of Marcionism?

Nationalism may seem irrational to modern thinkers, but history does not move by abstract reason or intellectual plans. Efforts to impose internationalism or a one-world order consistently provoke the opposite result: renewed nationalism and localism. The world resists being reshaped by rationalistic theories detached from history and human realities.

Biblically, history unfolds by God’s purpose, not man’s reason. National divisions however imperfect have often restrained total tyranny, while attempts at global unity repeat the Tower of Babel’s error: replacing God’s sovereignty with human control. As pressures toward centralized power grow, so too will division, exposing the failure of human plans for a rationally engineered world order.

Natural resources and strategic advantages do not guarantee greatness. History proves it. Constantinople lost its power. Egypt’s rich soil did not bring prosperity. What made the difference was not location or wealth but faith and character.

Scripture is clear: “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain” (Ps. 127:1). No economy, no military, and no natural advantage can save a people who abandon God’s law. The only sure foundation is Jesus Christ.

Jotham’s parable warns what happens when productive people refuse power and bramble men seize it instead (Judg. 9). The olive, fig, and vine were busy producing good fruit; the bramble only wanted rule and threatened destruction if others would not submit.

So it is today. Bramble men hate producers and seek power by restraining, harming, or controlling those who actually create and sustain life. The issue is stark: will producers be ruled by thorns, or will the power of the bramble be overthrown? Like it or not, we are all on the firing line. The only question is which side are you on?

Scripture is blunt: when God’s law is abandoned, the wicked are praised instead of restrained (Prov. 28:4). A justice system that protects criminals while penalizing victims is not neutral it has turned justice upside down. Without Biblical law, righteousness and restitution disappear, and evil is treated gently while the innocent pay the cost.

When there is no true preaching of God’s Word, “the people run wild” (Prov. 29:18). A society without vision will excuse wickedness, reward injustice, and call it compassion. Abandon God’s law, and praising the wicked becomes inevitable.

Another sure path to failure and frustration is the demand for perfection from everyone around us a demand rooted in man’s fallen longing for paradise without obedience to God. Those who insist on perfect children, perfect spouses, or perfect circumstances are invariably the most unhappy people of all, because they look for peace in others while remaining blind to their own faults. Their hunger is not for God’s holiness but for a world perfectly arranged to satisfy their own wishes, and this leads only to bitterness, disappointment, and broken relationships. The Christian, by contrast, does not look for happiness in a flawless world or flawless people but rests in a perfect God, whose faithfulness never wavers and whose providence never fails. Knowing that perfection belongs to God alone, the believer finds peace not in controlling others but in trusting the Lord, confident that if God is for us, nothing finally can be against us, and that faith in Him is the true victory that overcomes the world.

"Moloch" means king. Moloch worship was state worship a god claiming total jurisdiction, and therefore entitled to total sacrifice.

When the state demands more than the tithe, it isn't overreach. It's a rival claim to deity.

Conscription, expropriation, cradle-to-grave rule the children still pass through the fire, only the altar has changed.

Every society that makes man king ends by sacrificing man.
