Scripture reminds us that corruption is never confined to one group “like people, like priest.” When faith and character decay at the roots of a society, the fruit will show it in politics, churches, schools, and homes alike. Complaining about leaders may be justified, but leaders usually reflect the people who produce and choose them. Lasting change cannot be outsourced to government or institutions; it begins with regeneration and reformation in families, churches, and schools. As a people are, so their society will be and renewal starts at the roots.

True freedom depends on the Holy Spirit, not human reason or state power. When God’s providence and the Spirit’s rule are denied, control does not disappear it shifts to man, and ultimately to the modern state. Evolutionary and humanistic thinking remove God as the source of order, making totalitarian planning appear necessary to impose meaning, control, and purpose on life.

Scripture is clear: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Cor. 3:17). The Holy Spirit cannot be separated from God’s written Word, nor replaced by human feelings or intuition. When the Spirit governs through Scripture, men are free; when He is denied or confused with human impulses, freedom collapses into tyranny either personal or statist. There is no lasting liberty apart from the Spirit who is “the Lord and Giver of Life.”

The church belongs to Jesus Christ, yet in many places it has been taken over in His name and turned against His purpose. When Christ’s Word is replaced with ideology and social agendas, faithful believers are pushed aside and the church is stolen both from its Lord and from His people. Property and institutions may be lost, but Christianity itself cannot be captured or destroyed, because it is God’s work, not man’s. The call is clear: do not support what denies Christ, but rebuild His church on the foundation of Scripture, faithfulness, and obedience standing firm, even when the cost is great.

We confuse ourselves when we reduce “government” to the state and “church” to an institution. Scripture and earlier Christian thought saw government first as self-government under God, then family, church, school, and community civil government being only one among many. Likewise, the church is not merely a building or denomination, but the living Body of Christ, to which institutions are faithful only insofar as they obey Him. When we forget these meanings, we surrender responsibility and drift toward dependency and spiritual poverty. How we use these words reveals what we truly trust and whether we live under God’s order or man’s substitutes.

Modern man is haunted by a deep fear of evil because, having lost confidence in God’s sovereignty, he feels that nothing is secure or lasting, and that life itself is destined to collapse into chaos and dread; for him, evil feels more real than goodness, and hell more believable than heaven, because the only active power he knows is the power of sin within his own life. When evil is the only force a man experiences inwardly, it becomes the only force he can imagine governing the world, and so fear becomes his constant companion. This fear is overcome only when a man comes to know the power of God unto salvation, for then he knows that God not only destroys sin and death within him, but also reigns sovereignly over all creation. Every fact in the universe is a created fact, and therefore evil itself has no independent meaning or final authority apart from the will and purpose of God. In this knowledge the ground beneath us becomes firm again, and life is no longer a waiting for disaster but a confident resting in God’s rule, so that even in the valley of deepest darkness we can say with assurance, “I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” (Ps. 23:4).

There's a verse in Proverbs 3 that promises long life, peace, prosperity, and the respect of other men — not in heaven someday, but here, in this life. Most Christians have been taught to walk straight past it. We're told expecting reward is crass, worldly, prosperity gospel.

But Hebrews says you cannot come to God without believing He is a rewarder. So the problem isn't the promise. The problem is that nobody ever showed you the mechanism.

In this episode we take Proverbs 3:1–4 at its word: a king training a prince, a heart that keeps commandments rather than collects feelings, and the daily, unglamorous work that connects your Bible reading to your marriage, your trade, and your standing among men.

Because righteous men don't fall away in a moment. They fall away by a thousand missed greasings.

Biblically, property and charity are personal responsibilities grounded in God’s ownership of all things, not gifts or guarantees of the state. Historically, property belonged to families and communities, fostering personal care, loyalty, and Christian charity. The Enlightenment especially through John Locke shifted property from a God-given trust to a state-protected abstraction, paving the way for depersonalization, bureaucracy, and eventually statism.

As property and charity moved from individuals, families, and churches to the state, freedom declined. Impersonal welfare replaced personal responsibility, taxes replaced charity, and owners lost real control over their property. True freedom does not come from tax revolts or political fixes, but from regeneration in Christ, obedience to God’s law, and renewed personal responsibility to care for one another under God not the state.
