  • Hyperbaric - How it helps brain injury - with Craig Sicilia
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Craig Sicilia will be interviewing Dr. Schmidt from Tennessee hyperbaric and what it can do for brain injury and what you can expect Dr. Schmidt will discuss hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a treatment for traumatic brain injury on this talk show. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy at THC, patients relax in a six-person chamber and breathe 100% oxygen under pressure. This drives oxygen into cells, reviving them or helping them function. The Tennessee Hyperbaric Center uses 100% medical grade oxygen and is certified by the State of Tennessee. The staff is led by Medical Director Dr. Roy Schmidt. HBOT is the only non-hormonal treatment approved by the FDA for biologically repairing and regenerating human tissue. The Tennessee Hyperbaric Center, under direction of board certified anesthesiologist Dr. Roy Schmidt, offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for a variety of health issues. • Our Disability Rights - Hosted By Craig Sicilia
BRAIN INJURY DISABILITY RIGHTS "nothing about us with out us" There is lots of focus around disability rights and inclusion but many of us with brain Injuries rights are ignored, many decisions our made for us, and about us with out out us.  Survivors compared to other disability communities have not stood up for our selves  to be included in all aspects of our services and how others would define us.  So we the survivors and families of survivors of the world need to join, to define who we want to be seen as, how we let others define us and the how they will support us,   We must be sure we as survivors and families develop and define are rules and how services and organization benefit the community of survivors rather than organization, as we know organizations will come and go but we the survivors will always be here, and will always have each other.  Together we can change the future for better outcomes of all who will sustain a brain injury.   No one knows what we are going through unless they have lived with the hidden or silent epidemic (brain injury)   Help us support our selfs, We want to be included in our support and have a say in what supports are developed for us.  We the brain injuried eveywhere need to be seen not the agencies who serve us.  How together we can create the community of support we want. Here is an example of what one area is doing to define what they want  and how they want to be seen as the community of brain injured persons, and will start the advocacy in how agencies and organizations give that support. http://www.tbiwa.org/news

  • To Fast - Hosted by Craig Sicilia
As our community of survivors has grown at such astronomical rates I find my self stuck sometimes keeping up with things and at times not putting priority on what is important because of things going so fast and intense with a world of obstacles being thrown at me from financial to emotional.  During the last week I have been reminded that i need to keep connected to people and groups and that is and should be a priority.  When it comes down to it, its the people who make the difference and finding that balance to where I can sustain what I am doing and providing that personal service that is my passion.  Sometimes things it going so fast i lose complete control of my life in all aspects, I let people down because I don't have the time to be involved in everything which again is the priority.  I wish I had a switch that I could turn off in my mind though I am real capable I lose it all when my brain goes to fast it, it goes fast to often anymore.  I just can’t process and prioritize when it seems to count most.  Lets talk how we over come this and focus on what is our priority and how can we continue finding purpose and hope

  • LOST IN THE DARK - HOSTED BY CRAIG SICILIA
After spending several years after my injury, ashamed of my injury, hiding from those I thought loved me.  Being a punching bag because people did not understand and I could not explain it though I tried.  Hiding in the shadows of my own life, trapped with no where to run.  Only questioning why I am alive, praying that the pain will stop.  No one knows how it destroys ones soul as people look at you seeing nothing wrong but yet cannot accept you.  So after a couple of years I found a purpose again one that makes a difference and so many others are out there as well.  I am just over 5 years into my new me and I have to tell you the pain is still there, I question life, I wonder why, I beg God to stop the pain.  But through all of this I find strength in others, knowing that I am not alone.  Then I become angry because brain injury is the number one cause and death and disability among children and Adults under 40.  I ask myself why then just 5 years ago it was such a mystery, why no one told me, told my family, helped me understand..  So my purpose is to change this, to help survivors and their families take control of a system that has failed us for decades.  Our time is now fellow survivors let us change this, let our voices be heard.  Let us walk in the light with dignity and understanding.
