She then put herself through school with her personal training business and got a degree in gerontology. Dr. Merideth Hite Estevez is a mom, podcaster, Juilliard trained professional oboist, and author of the book "The Artist's Joy". She is extremely talented and I loved interviewing her on how to create creativity! While attending Juilliard, she was outcome and performance driven no matter what. When she finally graduated, she realized after 14 years of professional training that she was completely burnt out. Terrina Troy is an artist, designer, wife, dog mom, wanna-be-cowgirl, and author of the book All But Six. Her book is a memoir about her blue-collar, high school drop-out father who taught her to be resilient and autonomous. This interview is a little different than my normal episodes which are focused on creating a better life for yourself. This one is focused on how we can help the most abused and vulnerable people in our country: the children who live in slavery. Every day. I had the honor of interviewing TJ Morris who founded Kaleb House. TJ told me that 17,000 kids go missing every month in the United States! Everyone needs to know what TJ is doing, and how we can all help. You won’t believe the stories he tells, and how he was called to start Kaleb House and rescue children. Then everything that happens after that is mind-blowing. He’s actually hunting pedophiles and rehabilitating children who have known nothing but slavery and abuse. Most of them missed so much school they can barely read and write. These children need our voices!

Benny and Willa Knudsen were married in 1961 and shortly had their first child in 1962. They never would’ve imagined that the subsequent three decades would bring them all over the world and 11 children. At the time of this recording, Willa is almost 82, and Benny is 86 and they are still going strong! The lessons and stories from raising 11 children and moving every few years, sometimes overseas, are like nothing you can even imagine.

As of 2/23/24, their family has grown to over 100 people, with 50 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and dozens of sons/daughters in law and grandson/granddaughters in law.

Although this episode was primarily recorded for our family to listen and learn a little bit more about our parents/grandparents/great grandparents, I think anyone would revel in the stories and lessons from the extraordinary life of two young kids who met in college, brought eleven children into this world, and embraced life as one huge adventure.

Laugh and cry along with me as I ask my parents questions I’ve never asked, and hear them share things I’ve never heard them say.
