On this episode, I share the lesson the universe has been gifting me, that I recently noticed had been repeating throughout my life. This lesson is, embodying the knowing that you are EXACTLY where you are meant to be, or you wouldn't be here. When I am in the midst of challenging times my skepticism can creep out and ask, "How the fuck is this benefiting anybody?" But I have been shifting my mindset to instead ask, "How can my ultimate lows actually be for my highest good?"

• By trying to mentally escape the hard times it puts me in danger of not being present and not learning the lesson.

Today, I continue to talk about the process of when I first started publicly sharing my story and healing journey. The art show was right after I defended my thesis, and I thought there was no better way to keep the momentum going than to display my trauma art.

I am so grateful for everything in my life that has unfolded because I chose to do a research study about my own trauma.

On this episode, I celebrate the lifestyle change I made over one year ago! On this episode, I share my out-of-body experience that happened at residency when I was in grad school. My energetic body left my physical body and connected to my higher self. Then my higher self gifted me with the memory of the last rape I had experienced while in college. Which ended up being someone that I knew. Through this experience I came to the realization of how interwoven my trauma was in my life. 

I started to question, how does a person even become abusive in the first place? How did we get here with this mindset of victim vs abuser? Is it solving anything? Is someone who has sexually abused a person just automatically this awful human forever? I'm still in the process of exploring all of these questions myself, but because of my out-of-body experience, I understood just how messy trauma is.

Today, I DIVE in to exposing the toxic sexuality that is constantly fed to us through the content we consume via movies, shows, and social media. This shapes our unconscious perceptions of sex and sexuality directly affecting how we approach consent. BUT we have the power to re-program our unconscious mind.

Here are some sexual messages that misconstrued the meaning of consent that I have noticed portrayed in movies or shows:

• Normalizing liquid courage to be sexual
• Getting a few drinks in people to loosen them up
• "I'm just messing around"
• Not taking no for an answer
• Prude shaming
• Assuming body language or clothing equals consent
• Portraying consent as emasculating
• Believing being in a relationship automatically means constant sexual availability 
• Cultivating attraction around "taking what you want" when it involves another person

Just because it has been normalized doesn't make it okay! When you are watching TV or on social media, I challenge you to see if you can pin point any of these subliminal messages now. When you do, immediately reframe the message in your mind. Tell yourself, "That behavior does not serve me, but this behavior would serve me (then imagine a conducive scenario or thought process)."

We all have the power to create a healthy and safe environment while also allowing ourselves to be sexual beings! It is time to eradicate fear out of the equation of sex and infuse it with love! By incorporating proper consent with anything sexual is a great way to start that process.

Today, I begin to break down the concepts of unhealthy sexuality I believe the collective has adopted, and the concepts of healthy sexuality I believe the collective has been intentionally made unaware of. In the episode, I share ways we can begin to change the narrative within ourselves with some great journaling prompts! 

What are some signs of UNHEALTHY sexuality?

• Only engaging in sexual acts to achieve orgasm
• Being reliant on a partner to fulfill your sexual desires
• Being consumed with just the physical aspect of sex and sexuality
• Relying on toys or porn to receive pleasure when by yourself
• When you find someone attractive your mind immediately goes to fantasizing about sex

What are some signs of HEALTHY sexuality?

• More often than not, sex becomes an opportunity to connect spiritually, mentally, emotionally, AND physically with yourself and/or a partner
• Attraction is cultivated from the soul, not the genitals
• When self-pleasuring, the goal is to connect with your body
• Fear, shame, and unsafety no longer feel directly linked to your perception of sex and sexuality
• The source of sex and sexuality is coming from a place of love
