In this episode, we’ll talk about what inspired Owen to start flipping furniture at only 10 years old, his experience on Good Morning America, and where the name Squid Flip came from! In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman sit down with freelance filmmaker and photographer and young entrepreneur, Joey the Monk! In this episode, we talk about the importance of self care, where Joey the Monk’s moniker comes from (hint: it’s right in the name), and Joey’s experience with imposter syndrome!

In this special episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Sarah Wrightsman and Becky Barsi are live at Exeter High School for the annual Slam Free and Fly poetry event! The evening was rich with original poetry from freshmen students participating in the Arts in Action project, a school to community partnership supported and funded by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the Racial Unity Team.
In this episode, you’ll hear original poetry from 21 gutsy young people. These recitations represent some classroom favorites as well as some reciters returning to the stage from Slam Free or Fly in years past. The students will ponder how creativity can change the world, but first, poets will share their thoughts on love, life, and death; they’ll ask the age-old question “why did I have to write this poem?”; and they’ll push us to reconsider where we go to get our next haircut!
Keep your eyes peeled for a special edition zine featuring these students’ work!
