  • Hustle Culture is Out and Self-Care is In

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode I'm taking on the topic of hustle culture and why it's time to embrace a slower, more intentional approach to creativity and business. How can slowing down actually help us accomplish more in the long run? I explore the importance of rest, self-care, and finding alignment in our work, and why sometimes, the fastest way to success is by moving slower.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Hustle culture promotes a “go-go-go” mentality that often leads to burnout, exhaustion, and a lack of creativity.
    • Slowing down allows for deeper creative breakthroughs and sustainable growth.
    • Rest and self-care are not luxuries but necessities for thriving in a creative business.
    • The paradox: Sometimes, the more time you take off, the more productive and fulfilled you become.
    • Tips for practicing slowing down: scheduling time off, creating space for rest, and prioritizing joy over busyness.

    Quotes from the Episode:

    • “Sometimes, slow is the fastest way to go.”
    • “You can’t pour from an empty cup, and creativity needs space to breathe.”
    • “Success is not about how busy we are but how aligned and fulfilled we feel in our work.”

  • Creating with Intention: The Power of Honoring Your Creative Needs

    Send us Fan Mail

"We are not here to simply work, pay bills, and die. We are here to enjoy the journey. Sharing our art and creativity makes the journey more fun, and that energy ripples out to everyone we touch." – Nicole Gariepy

Going deep into the heart of what it truly means to be a creative entrepreneur in this episode. As creatives, we operate in such a different space than traditional business models. We can’t always rely on a rigid structure to show up the same way every day—creativity thrives on nurturing, space, and flow. I’ll share how I’ve learned to manage my energy, honor my cycles, and optimize my creativity over the years as a solo business owner.

    Key Takeaways:

    1. Creativity Needs Space: Unlike transactional work, creativity is not a constant output. It thrives when we give it room to breathe and evolve.
    2. The Flow of the Creative Cycle: Different seasons of life and business call for different approaches. In busy times, creative work might take a backseat, and that's okay.
    3. We Are Human: The rigid structures of a 40-hour workweek don’t align with how creatives function. It's important to honor your body and mind and realize that showing up in the same capacity every day isn’t realistic.
    4. Boundary Setting is Essential: As your business grows, so does the importance of knowing when to say no. For creatives, especially those doing custom work, it’s critical to manage your capacity and avoid burnout.
    5. Your Own Personal Growth Journey: Running a business is one of the ultimate personal development paths. It teaches you lessons in boundaries, self-care, and alignment with your truest needs.
    6. Supporting Creativity with Routines: Having a solid morning routine that includes movement and a spiritual practice can set the foundation for a creative and productive day. Discover what works for you and prioritize it.
    7. Inspiration is a Gift: We are conduits for creativity—allowing the divine spark to manifest through us. It’s important to give yourself time and space to receive inspiration.
    8. The Ripple Effect: When you’re passionate and lit up about what you’re creating, that energy is contagious. The more we share our creativity with the world, the more we inspire others to do the same.

  • September 2024 Numerology: Amplify Your Creative Journey with Taran Renee

    Send us Fan Mail

Grab your free numerology calculator resource here: https://taran-cardone.ck.page/778ec25716

In this episode, I had the pleasure of diving into the fascinating world of numerology with my friend and numerology expert, Taran Renee. This conversation is perfect for those of you looking to align your creative journey with the energetic patterns of the universe. Taran is a gifted numerologist (among other things), and together we explore how understanding numerology can help us navigate the challenges and opportunities in our lives, particularly in a year like 2024, which is universally an 8 year.

Taran gives us a preview reading, where we talk about my own personal numerology, specifically focusing on my 8-year. The number 8 is all about power, success, and material abundance, but it also comes with the responsibility of balancing that power wisely. Next, we expanded the discussion to the collective experience of 2024 as an 8-year. Taran shared how this powerful year can influence us all on a global scale, especially for those of us in creative fields. This is a year of building, manifesting, and stepping into leadership roles—whether it’s in your art, your business, or your community. If you’re in an 8-year-old too, you’ll definitely want to listen closely to this part!

Taran also gives us an overview of all of the numbers, 1-9, and what they represent. Whether you're new to numerology or have some experience with it, this episode offers valuable insights into how you can use this ancient practice to guide your creative journey in 2024 and beyond. Taran’s wisdom is a reminder that the universe is always speaking to us—sometimes, it’s just a matter of knowing how to listen.

  • The Creative Duality: Embracing Both Consistency and Change

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, I am exploring the delicate balance between consistency and change in our creative lives. How do we know when to stay the course and when it’s time to pivot? Through thoughtful metaphors and practical insights, I am investigating the importance of both consistency and change in fostering growth and creativity. Whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, or someone navigating the journey of life, this episode will help you embrace both stability and transformation as essential parts of your creative process.

    Takeaways:

    • Consistency builds the foundation for creative growth.

    • Balance is key—too much consistency can lead to stagnation, while too much change can cause chaos.
    • Trust your intuition to guide you in knowing when to stay the course or pivot.

  • Expansion Follows Contraction: Cycles and Seasons of Life, Business and Creativity

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, I explore the powerful concept that "expansion always follows contraction." This idea, shared with me by a brilliant mentor, has resonated deeply as I navigate my own personal and creative growth. We dive into what it means to experience contraction in life and business, why these periods are necessary, and how they ultimately lead to expansion and greater possibilities.

Life is a series of cycles, and understanding the dance between contraction and expansion can help us navigate both the highs and lows with grace. Embrace the journey, trust the process, and remember that growth is always on the horizon.

    Takeaways:

    • Remember that contraction is a natural part of life’s cycles, and it’s often a precursor to expansion.
    • Use periods of contraction as opportunities to reflect, grow, and prepare for the next phase of your journey.
    • Embrace the creative process, understanding that doubt and roadblocks are part of the path to success.
    • Find comfort in the knowledge that you’re not alone in your experiences—community and shared wisdom can be powerful sources of support.

  • Existential Crisis or the Creative Path? Discovering Depth in Art and Life

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, I am exploring the themes of meaning and expression in our creative lives. Art and creativity are really about how we perceive one thing through the lens of another. I also touch upon the broader quest for meaning in our lives and the importance of embracing the unknown. This journey can often seem to appear in the form of a midlife "crisis" or a profound personal transformation (hello, Dark Night of the Soul). I shared my experiences in the jewelry industry, the importance of consistency in business, and how storytelling enhances the value  and impact of our work. This episode is a call to embrace life’s unpredictability and the joy, and very rocky road, of reinvention. Through our stories and experiences, we find the deeper meaning and joy that enrich our lives and our art.

    Key Takeaways

    • Art as Metaphor: Art is the expression of one thing through the lens of another. It allows us to see the world differently and adds meaning and depth to our lives.
    • The Illusion of New Ideas: Many ideas have been explored, yet artists can reinvent and reinterpret them through their unique perspectives and voices.
    • The Search for Deeper Meaning: As creatives, we often find ourselves questioning the meaning of life and our place in it. This existential search is a vital part of the creative process.
    • Reinvention and Consistency: While the desire to create and explore is essential, consistency in our work and practice leads to sustained success and fulfillment.
    • The Power of Storytelling: Stories connect us to our audience and add depth to our work. Whether in art, music, or business, sharing our stories enriches our creations.
    • Life Beyond Material Success: True happiness and fulfillment come from finding deeper meaning and purpose, not just from financial success.
    • Embracing the Creative Journey: Once we embark on the creative path, we are part of a larger flow of inspiration and must embrace the journey and its twists and turns.

  • How Vulnerable Should We Really Be? The Deep Connection of Being Authentic

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode I am getting personal once again and sharing my journey from someone who always felt the need to keep up appearances, to where I am in my life now vulnerable sharing my truth, with authenticity as one of my top core values. I discuss how social media is all aboutthe highlight reel and the need to be genuine in our interactions. I share my journey towards authenticity, especially during the early stages of my jewelry business, and the shift from trying to sound professional to embracing my true voice. Authenticity, I emphasize, is not only essential but also fun and effortless because it involves simply being ourselves.

When we are authentic, we create resonance, a deep, almost vibrational connection with our audience. While perfection isn't always attainable, keeping core values like authenticity at the forefront helps make genuine interactions more automatic. Practicing authenticity, like any other skill, requires repetition and dedication.

I reflect on personal experiences where I felt the need to share both joyous and sorrowful moments but lacked someone to share them with. I talk about the impact of significant events on my life and how they intertwine with my professional journey. The concept of life as a performance resonates with me, drawing from my background in ballet, where the show must go on despite chaos behind the scenes. This analogy extends to how we navigate life's challenges while maintaining a positive facade.

The importance of being seen, heard, and understood is paramount, and finding people who can hold space for us in our vulnerable moments is crucial. Authenticity in social media and business attracts those who truly resonate with our message, creating deep, meaningful connections. In essence, your vibe attracts your tribe, and being true to oneself is the key to building these authentic relationships.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” ― Dr. Seuss
