And finally, Collin drills down what good outreach looks like and how you can craft your messaging to attract podcast hosts to let them consider you to be their guest.
    SHOW NOTES
    HIGHLIGHTS
Invest in a good mic and camera
Create a list and do your research
Write a review and add value to listeners
    Bad outreach versus good outreach
    QUOTES
Collin: "When you're reaching out to these podcast hosts, the fact that you have a good professional setup is going to increase the positive reply rate of people inviting you on their show."
Collin: "Here's two simple ways to create a list. Go to listennotes.com or go to Sales Navigator. So you can go to Sales Navigator or you can do the search without Sales Navigator. Search podcast hosts. You can start with your first-degree connections, then you can move to your second, third, or people that you're in groups with. The other option is you can go to Listen Notes."
Collin: "Hit the three things they care about. One, do you actually know anything about their show. Number two, they care about reviews. Number three, can you add value to their listeners?"

    SHOW NOTES
    HIGHLIGHTS
3 parts to a story: Setup, conflict, resolution
Get noticed as a guest the right way
Tips to prepare for a podcast guest appearance
    QUOTES
Collin: "You want to get noticed and stand out in the right way. You don't want to show up to a podcast and it to be boring. You don't want to show up to a podcast and it'd be all about you. You don't want to show up to a podcast and it'd just sound like some big, boring, snorefest sales pitch."
Collin: "Do your research on the host. Listen to some episodes. Do some prep work. Have a great story to share, which we covered a little bit of that. Make sure you're focused on delivering value. Extremely important."
Collin: "Every possible opportunity that you have to promote the episode, do so. If you have a newsletter, share it in your newsletter. If you have a blog, write about it in your blog. If you can share it on your website, do that."

  • Access Referrals by Cultivating Relationships with Podcast Hosts
In this episode of the Salescast Podcast, Collin explains why podcast guesting can be preferable to starting your own show. Aside from accessing existing niche audiences, creating relationships with the hosts themselves can open up all sorts of referrals for you. Collin explains the different levels of growth available to you by cultivating a positive experience on each podcast guesting you do.
    SHOW NOTES
    HIGHLIGHTS
Starting your own podcast vs guesting on other shows
A relationship with the podcast host creates referrals
What growth looks like through podcasting
    QUOTES
Collin: "Guesting on shows is a great place to start because it's more time-efficient, it's less of a commitment from you, you can tap into an existing audience, a niche audience. You need to think about who are your buyers? Who are your best clients? What type of shows do they listen to?"
Collin: "The relationship with the host is so important. Sometimes the host might be an ideal client or referral source for you. These people are typically well-connected people. They have large social followings. They might have a newsletter. They might have all of these other assets in addition to their podcast that they might want to feature you in."
Collin: "Referral is the function of shareability. So sharing is the flame that doesn't put out the match. Infinite amount of shareability. So if you create content that's easily shareable, then not only are you getting the visibility on the podcast platforms, but also through blogs or social or YouTube."

  • Podcasting Is a Referral And Skips B2B Trust Funnels
In this episode of the Salescast Podcast, Collin drops mind-blowing statistics on podcast listening behaviors. If you own a business, then your future clients do listen to podcasts and you should be exploring your own podcast growth today.
    HIGHLIGHTS
●Collin's show Sales Transformation and Chris' show Foundations
●Statistics prove that podcasting is growing exponentially
●Podcasting functions like a referral because of trust
    QUOTES
Collin: "I actually just read a report a few days ago that it's going to hit 2.7 billion this year, so 3 years ahead of schedule, which is crazy. Meaning that basically podcast ad spend has doubled in 1 year. Which is bonkers."
Collin: "Your buyers, your clients, your future clients are listening to podcasts. Here's why a podcast interview can skip the entire B2B trust funnel because when a podcast listener hears about something from somebody that they trust, the podcast host, it's like getting a referral from a friend."
