  • “How Creativity Rules the World”

    ⁣⁣Maria Brito is an award-winning New York-based contemporary art advisor, author, and curator. A Harvard graduate, originally from Venezuela, her first monograph “Out There” published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2013, was the recipient of the Best Book Awards in both the Art and Design Categories. In 2015 Brito was selected by Complex Magazine as one of the 20 Power Players in the Art World and in 2020 she was named by ARTNEWS as one of the visionaries who gets to shape the art world.

    She has written for publications such as Entrepreneur, Huffington Post, Elle, Forbes, Artnet, Cultured Magazine, Departures, and the Gulf Coast Journal of Literature and Fine Arts from the University of Houston, Texas.

    In 2019 she created and hosted "The "C" Files with Maria Brito", a TV and streaming series for PBS's new station "ALL ARTS".

  • “Creating art Inspired by my Hometowns” - Raul the Third

    Raúl is an award-winning illustrator, author, and artist whose work frequently centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.  He’s the illustrator of the Low-riders series, a bestselling graphic novel trilogy, the second of which, Low-riders to the Center of the Earth, earned Raúl his first Pura Belpre Medal for Illustration. His lauded picture book series for children, ¡VAMOS!, began in 2019 with ¡Vamos! Let’s Go to the Market!, a dual language picture book set in a bustling border town, for which he won a Pura Belpre Honor and praise as being both entertaining and informative through its engaging detailed art, Spanish vocabulary, and cultural references. His follow up ¡Vamos! Let’s Go Eat! won him a second Pura Belpre Medal earlier this year. It was recently optioned to become an animated series with Silvergate. This fall, his profile continues to grow as he joins #1 New York Times bestseller and the current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Jason Reynolds, on Stuntboy, in the Meantime (11/30). Stuntboy is Jason’s first illustrated middle grade novel and he hand-picked Raúl the Third, to create the art for the book.

    Paulette Perhach's writing has been published in the New York Times, Vox, Elle, Slate, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, Yoga Journal, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Hobart, and Vice.

    Her book, Welcome to the Writer's Life, was published in 2018 by Sasquatch Books, part of the Penguin Random House publishing family, and was selected as one of Poets & Writers' Best Books for Writers.

    She blogs about a writer’s craft, business, personal finance, and joy at welcometothewriterslife.com and leads meditation and writing sessions through A Very Important Meeting.

    She serves writers as a coach, helping them figure out how to make a life and career out of being a writer while making the money work (as she figures it all out herself.) She's also a speaker on the topics of creativity, writing, and business.

    Hugo House, a nationally recognized writing center in Seattle, awarded her the Made at Hugo House fellowship in 2013. In 2016, she was nominated for the BlogHer Voices of the Year award for her essay, “A Story of a Fuck Off Fund,” which is anthologized in The Future is Feminist from Chronicle Books, along with work by Roxane Gay, Mindy Kaling, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Caitlin Moran, and Audre Lorde. In 2021, she was selected as a Jack Straw Fellow.

    She shared the honor of a 2021 Washington State Book Award for the anthology Alone Together: Love, Grief, and Comfort in the Time of Covid-19 as a contributor.
