January 30, 2022 How Do I Know God’s Will for My Life?
This is our final sermon in this series about leadership in the Lord’s Church. This Sunday we will consider what scripture has to say about the will of God for each of us individually. How do you know what God wants you to do in your life? Sometimes this question is asked in the context of big picture. What type of work should I do for a living? Where should I live? What congregation should I join? Other times the question of God’s will is situational dealing with specific circumstances. Paul gives us some insight into how to answer these questions.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Rom 12:1-2 (ESV)
How can you and I discern God’s will? We must renew our minds in the Word of God so that He can transform us. Then we must test and discern what is God’s will and what is not. Let’s join together this Sunday and seek to know what God’s will is for our lives.

January 23, 2022 The Biblical Model of Servant Leadership
Our Shepherds have announced our need for some additional Deacons. We talked last week about the importance of leadership in the Lord’s church. This coming Sunday we will consider the Bible’s teaching not only on Deacons serving in the Lord’s Church but on how we’re all called to be servants. If we want to excel as Christians and to be the best followers of Christ we can be, we must humble ourselves and be servants. The words of Jesus are recorded in Matthew.
"But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)
Let’s come together in study and prayer to consider God’s plan for leadership in the church and what we’re called to do.

January 16, 2022 Is Leadership Important?
This is one of those questions where the answer is obvious. Is leadership important? Yes. Consider this, without leadership and others willing to follow you have chaos and anarchy. If every individual lives their life only on what they want to do there is no church. The Greek word for church is ekklesia, which literally means; “the gathered”. The idea is we are the followers of Christ who have gathered together in His name, for His purpose. There’s all kinds of leadership roles in the church. Paul said to the church in Ephesus.
"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” Eph 4:11-14 (NASU).
Leadership is so important, but it may be more than when you typically think of when you hear the word; Leadership. Let’s gather together this Sunday to study God’s word and consider our role as leaders and followers.

January 02, 2022 The Power of Perspective
Our perspective in life is so important. How do you see your life? How do you see yourself? What is your perspective of life based on? Paul gives us some insight into how we should walk in this life; how we should live our lives.
"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.” 2 Cor 5:6-9 (ESV)
Yes, we live by faith, not by sight. But what exactly does that mean? And how does my perspective of life fit into all of that? Let’s come together this Sunday get into God’s Word and worship Him together.

December 28, 2021 What’s Your Resolve?
Well, 2021 will soon be behind us and a new year will be here. And what do we typically do in a new year? We like to make “New Year’s Resolutions”. We all have those things we want to change about ourselves. We all want to be better people and make improvements in our lives. So we resolve or commit to changing something in our lives. Question; Does the Bible give us any insight on how we can become better Christians? Consider the words of Paul to the Christians at Philippi.
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:13-14 (ESV)
Here Paul shares some personal ways he lives his Christian life. Let’s join together this Sunday morning and consider how we can learn from Paul in this passage and be better followers of Christ. God bless you and your family.

December 19, 2021 Our Marvelous Messiah
Have you ever gone looking for Jesus? Most of the time it’s when we’ve hit a wall or something terrible has happened to us. When we sense our need for Jesus we should go looking for Him. This was the case in the life of John the Baptist, Andrew, and Simon Peter.
"The next day again John (the Baptist) was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come and you will see." So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ)". John 1:35-41 (ESV).
Jesus our marvelous Messiah came to save us and heal us from our sins. Let’s join together this Sunday morning to consider Jesus as our Messiah and what that means to us today.

December 12, 2021 The Son as Our Savior
What would you be willing to sacrifice in order to save someone in danger? Your time, your money, maybe even your own personal safety or life. Would you be willing to let your child suffer, be made fun of, and ultimately be murdered? I can’t imagine what it would be like to give up one of my children to save an enemy and yet that is exactly what God did. God the Father sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to be our Savior.
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:11-14 (ESV).
Our God loves us with a tremendous love. I look forward to being with you as we worship our God and Savior together.

December 05, 2021 Perfect Peace
None of us like to feel anxious or worried, right? Whether it’s about your job security, your kids well fair, or your own personal sanity we all want to feel at peace. We all desire to feel safe and secure in our lives. Unfortunately we all have things that happen in life that threaten our safety and security. But what if we could have peace, feeling safe and secure, no matter what’s happening in our lives? This is what Paul points to in his letter to the Christians in Philippi.
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:4-7 (ESV).
Let’s unite together to study God’s Word and pursue this perfect peace that God provides.

November 28, 2021 A Light Has Dawned
Have you ever been in the dark? All of us have had those moments trying to walk in the dark. It’s only a matter of time before you trip, stumble, or hurt yourself. We all can agree that, when it’s dark, light is what we need. Jesus is our light in life. In Isaiah chapter 9 we see a prophecy of Jesus being a light to the world.
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. 3 You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil.” Isaiah 9:2 (ESV)
Let’s join together to study God’s Word and worship our God as the light of our lives.
