Traditional oral histories of the Navajo people have much to teach us about the world. Their creation myth, diné bahane', tells of the First World and the origins of life as we know it today; from it, we learn of Nihodilhil - the Dark World. Generally speaking, the darkness referred to here is a literal dark, before the creation of light and life. Navajo creation myths do, however, provide many stories of darkness that go far beyond a literal interpretation. One such story that's made it's way into mainstream society is that of yee naaldlooshii - or as you may know it, the Skinwalker. Join us this week as we discuss the dark history behind one of the most evil creatures known today, and how the story of the Skinwalker transcends time, culture, and fear.
