Jane Ellen Neumann was a 30-year-old wife and mother found shot to death in the basement of her home in Hudson, Wisconsin in 1993. While her husband initially told police she had been murdered by an unknown intruder, the crime scene investigation and autopsy results told a different story.

After almost 52 years, Burlington Police Department just announced this morning that Vermont's oldest cold case murder has finally been solved!

In 1971, 24-year-old schoolteacher Rita Curran was found beaten, raped and strangled to death on her bedroom floor in Burlington, Vermont.

Today, on February 21st, 2023, her killer has officially been identified and her case closed.
