Having a bad day? Welcome to the club. We all have them, and we will continue to have them. The key is to not linger in them. You have the power to change your mindset. The next time you are sinking into a bad day I want you to try this:

I want you to put things into perspective. That's it. Not complex. Not hard. Just think of all the opportunities you have ahead of you. All the people (Family and Friends) in your life. The roof over you head. Your health. Your kids. Your job etc etc etc. Remember things could always be worse and there is always someone who has it worse.

You see when you start being grateful instead of being pissed off your life will begin to change for the better. But, YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK.

Go out and conquer your day and week and be safe.

Such and honor to have fellow officers Keith Knotek and Mario Oliveria on the show.

Keith Knotek is a retired sheriff’s sergeant and police commander with thirty years of law enforcement experience in California. Continuous exposure to violence and unaddressed trauma led to issues with post-traumatic stress and depression. Finally broken and brought down to his knees, Keith turned to Jesus Christ for help. Keith experienced forgiveness, redemption, and healing as his spiritual connection with God grew.

Gunrunner - By Keith Knotek and Mario Oliveria:

https://www.amazon.com/Sorrow-Amazing-Grace-Cops-Journey/dp/1644680300

Just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, Mario Oliveira was serving an arrest warrant in Somerville when he was shot six times in the chest, stomach and arm at point-blank range by a gun-trafficking suspect. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries by Dr. David King, a trauma services doctor who is also famous for his work on victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.

Mario’s heart stopped twice on the operating table but ultimately the surgical team was able to save his life. Five months later, he returned to work but suffered a heart attack in November 2011 and learned he would no longer be able to serve as a police officer due to the severity of his injuries from being shot the year before. Five years later, in June 2015, Mario also suffered a stroke as a result of the shooting.

Through his work with V.I.P.O., he now dedicates his life to making sure that other officers and their families will have the resources they need when a law enforcement officer is killed or violently injured in the line of duty.

Can you do me and others a big favor? Stop complaining all the time. Really. No one wants to hear a constant complainer except other complainers. And even some of the complainers that you complain to are probably thinking "Man, my life is pretty good compared to this complainer."

You have the power to make your life better plain and simple. It's not magic.. There is no seminar you have to attend or book you need to read. You have the greatest super computer between your ears. Make it happen. Stop Complaining.

Why don't you start today?

We are here for YOU!

Some people who are in treatment think once they are done it's over and they can go on with their life. While the latter part is true, the former is not. Your recovery never ends my friend. It will require hard work on your part and you will have good days and bad. However, remember you are never alone and you need to utilize your network and remember and apply what you learned in treatment. One day at a time my friend.

My treatment provided me with the tools and the foundation to go forward and I do everyday.

Remember your recovery is constant. You can do it! So many believe in you and your recovery. Keep up the great work.

You are not alone. You are never alone.
