In the next episode of Mental Health awakening 2 Mason and Angela are joined with Amy who has PTSD which stands for Post Traumatic stress disorder. We all feel PTSD isn't talked about enough!

Amy shares what PTSD is and her personal experience, and gives us a bit about her background, Amy was diagnosed in 2021, how PTSD affects Amy is when sleeping unaware a dream is a dream, and the fear of spiders and Rats which wakes Amy up, this can be brought on to early events especially in Amy's childhood due to personal trauma. 

We lead on to talk about the misconceptions of PTSD within the Army being more common but noticing there are lots of ways you can get PTSD each person has there own story, 

Great tips from Amy, we talk about hospitals, GpS surgery's when the support of Mental Health comes to mind people to think when speaking to there patients.

In today's episode of Mental Health Awakening Mason and Angela T Jackson are joined with Kitty who speaks about her Mental Health, today's topic is Personal Mental Health. Kitty is a recurring guest to the podcast, Mason and Kitty went to school together and have known each for a long time over 5 years now. 

Kitty talks Mason and Angela about the loss of her Dad in 2018 who committed suicide. Kitty had therapy for 6 weeks and that helped her a lot, it was a big shock to her and her family, not knowing her Dad was really struggling. Kitty took to Art which she loves! 

This episode is a really brave one Kitty shares coping strategies but loosing a loved one so young to suicide can be really hard. Kitty's therapist also had gone through a similar thing too so that did really help Kitty knowing that. 

Towards the end of the episode helplines are shown tom everyone who is going through a loss through the fate of suicide.

Welcome to Mental Health Awakening 2 for another episode today's topic is "How I got here" With Sellittia Johnson, her bio and description is down below...

Sellittia Johnson is a native of Tennessee born and raised in Pulaski. Sellittia was educated in the Giles County School system and graduated Giles County High School in 1991.  While in high school, Sellittia joined the Tennessee National Guard and went on to enlist in active duty Army in 2003. 

After receiving an honourable discharge from the Army in 2007, Sellittia went on to pursue an education in psychology and mental health counselling. She received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Martin Methodist College in 2012 and earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from Argosy University in 2017.

Sellittia has a heart to advocate for those who are not able to advocate for themselves.  She has worked in community mental health and direct support care for persons with disabilities.  Sellittia is a woman wearing many hats including being an author of an eBook called “How I Got Here.”

A refresh of our hosts in this opening episode! Mason and Angela UK/USA connections! who they both have Crohn's Disease! in the second series of Mental Health awakening it won't be as long as the first season but we do have some great guests in store for you! 

In this first episode Mason and Angela have a recap of some good moments in the first series and have a good catch up how each other  have been, we talk about the process of Mental Health Awakening 2!

In today's episode as you can tell from the episode title we go to Australia today for the last episode of Communities unite the first series! This was really well organised by Justan who came on the show about 2 years ago now, also joined by Flic, ambassador for Crohn's and Colitis Australia and does radio,  Sarzy a Nurse doing great work and Rose who recently did get a ostomy and was a teacher! we all have Crohn's Disease! 

Today we talk about friendships, our own personal stories and things that should get talked about more! such as crohn's disease and fertility and Fistulas, we understand it can be hard to talk about certain topics but professions should get the correct training! 

Really good conversation today, you will enjoy it! although this is the last episode of this series, we will be starting a series of our own discussing several topics around IBD coming your way soon!

Welcome to Doctor Who & Autism series celebrations following on from Last's years success of Doctor Who and Autism the series I thought of starting a new episode to celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who but not only that to celebrate Autism. This episode is the first of the series the series won't properly air until November but I thought of bringing you an early episode as it's Mental health awareness month and today's guest is a Mental health Nurse! 

Today's I am joined with Beth who isn't autistic but works within the Mental Health field, we speak about Mental health and Autism within the Doctor Who universe! Me and Beth first met on Tiktok. We have an in depth conversation around who our favourite Doctor's are and companions and we want more scary Doctor Who villains!

We talk about the future and certain episodes where Mental health is used and Autism and we talk and say our opinions, It's a really good conversation about a hobby we adore!

Beth's favourite quote is: "It was a better life. And I don't mean all the travelling and seeing aliens and spaceships and things. That don't matter. The Doctor showed me a better way of living your life. You know he showed you too. That you don't just give up. You don't just let things happen. You make a stand. You say no. You have the guts to do what's right when everyone else just runs away, and I just can't"
