  • Leadership: Growth w/ Ani Trejo Barrington + Peri Bolts

How do you grow and expand a collaborative-based artistic community?

I was able to have two strong female small business owners, Peri Bolts and Ani Trejo Barrington co-owners of Eclectic CO. (https://shopeclecticco.com/), come on the show to talk about their leadership journey as they expand into their third retail location in Colorado. They both share their journey into becoming a leader duo in this space, empowering artists and makers to thrive in a collaborative retail space and using servant leadership as fuel to make the system work without directly managing each contributor.

Eclectic CO. was founded in 2018 by Peri Bolts, who has a background in corporate operations but a passion for social impact left her feeling like there was a better way to do business than the grind of pop-up life that most artisans experience. Ani Trejo Barrington is the owner of Two Wolves Vintage (https://www.instagram.com/twowolvesvintage/) has been an Eclectic CO. vendor since day one. In the fall of 2020, the two of them decided to take their partnership and their dreams to the next level and become true business partners. Their third location in Littleton, CO opens in October 2021.

  • Leadership: Mindfulness w/ Dana D'Orazio

Why are we expected to be a different version of ourselves when we lead?

Dana D'Orazio (https://www.linkedin.com/company/good-hustle), the founder of the Good Hustle, comes on the show to talk about bridging the gap between mindfulness and leadership. She debunks the stigma of self-improvement that is an essential key to great leadership which is not always seen as compatible or necessary for business. We discuss the symptoms of this type of development being needed showing up as burn-out, being unable to prioritize, and detachment from the larger picture. Dana shares her experiences coaching and encouraging leaders to give themselves the permission and space to focus on what they need, so they can be there for others.

Dana is a Coach, Leadership Development Instructor, certified Yoga instructor, and credentialed Meditation teacher through Georgetown University and UC Berkley. She has spent over 15 years piloting, disrupting, meditating, designing, teaching, holding space, strategizing, and scaling work across the U.S., and globally. The Good Hustle (http://www.goodhustle.org/) is the result of her passion to help people thrive by honoring the hustle (strategic, intentional work) and the go easy (finding balance and taking care).

You can attend one of Dana’s weekly Tuesday meditation sessions at: https://www.subscribepage.com/tuesdaymeditation

Carolyn Tran is a Mẹ [pronounced MAY-yuh] to two daughters. Feminist. Surfer. Public Servant. She has served Council District 25, mostly behind the scenes. In 2009, she moved to Queens to pursue a masters from the Milano School of Policy, Management, and Environment at The New School and in 2013 Jackson Heights became her home. • Compass

What does New Year's mean while we are still stuck at home?

I turned on the mic and recorded some of my thoughts as we lazy slide into 2021. Despite what your advertisement emails tell you, we can’t fully say goodbye to this year as pieces still come with us. The people and the things we’ve lost are still gone. So what is it that we can do?

I talk about my experience with processing using a free tool, the Year Compass (https://yearcompass.com) to try to wrap my head around the frustrations, the failures, the lessons, and even some of the wins.

If you have a reflection process or a way to set up yourself for success next year, let me know!
