Pastor John Pickens brings us a message from the life of Solomon. Pastor John talks about how, often when people think about their legacy they think of their abilities, their achievements, their status. Our true legacy is determined by how we walk with God and how we live in obedience to his will. 

This week Pastor Kevin Hancock talks about the story of King David. David sinned by committing adultery with Bathsheba and then having her husband killed. But, he turned back toward God and repented for what he had done. His response to his sin is what set him apart form his predecessor King Saul. David is a reminder to us that we don't have to stay stuck in our sin, God can free us from it. 

This week pastor Sherry talks about waiting. Sometimes waiting is hard, but while we wait we can trust in God that he is working for good. God strengthens us while we wait and gives us purpose, working with him while we wait.

This week Pastor Kevin tells the story of the nation of Israel at a point in their history when the people decided they wanted to be like all the other nations and have a king to rule over them. They rejected God as their king. However, God calls us to follow his leadership, to listen to his voice. God calls his people not to be like everyone else but to be distinctively different in a way that honors him. 

This week, pastor Kevin tells the story of Ruth. The lives of Ruth and her mother in law, Naomi, are turned upside down through tragedy. At times that kind of loss can make us bitter, but Ruth gives and receives kindness and compassion. God is at work in the midst of circumstances that could make many of us, like Naomi, bitter. In the midst of that loss he creates something beautiful.

Pastor Kevin uses the story of Gideon to illustrate that God can use us even when we feel like the last person God should choose. In spite of our sin and the painful consequences that sin often brings, God draws us to him and uses us, not because of our own strength, but through his.

Pastor Kevin talks about the importance of trusting in God's guidance and allowing him to lead us. The story of Joshua reminds us that we may face giants that are bigger than us, but God is bigger than the giants.

Pastor Kevin talks about how our forgetfulness about what God has done in the past, our own negativity, fear and limited perspective can keep us from trusting God and what he is doing in our story right now. 

Pastor Kevin talks about the 10 Commandments that God gives the people of his community. God's rules help us to be a different kind of community, a community that lives out the right kind of relationship both with God and with those around us. 

You may feel powerless and out of control and it may seem that not even God could change things. May this story remind you that as we pursue God and His plan for our lives he has the power to overcome and reveal himself to us His children.
