Crossing Streams

Craig Elsten and Liddy Loree are back to review two VERY different shows, but both excellent in their own genres! First up, a review of "Minx" on HBO Max. Ellen Rappaport's show is bouncy, funny, and a workplace comedy in a very unusual setting. We love it! In the body of the podcast, we review "Pachinko" on AppleTV+, likely to be one of the Top-5 shows of 2022.

Atlanta is back after four long years away, and we're going to dive in with bi-weekly Monday coverage on Crossing Streams! Craig Elsten and John Browner look at the bold and confident decisions made in the first two episodes of Season 3 of Atlanta.

Craig Elsten is joined by Voice of San Diego reporter and the co-host of the "Rock Docs" podcast, Andy Keatts, to discuss the three-part Netflix documentary "jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy". Like "Get Back" in 2021, "jeen-yuhs" is capturing the cultural zeitgeist with intimate footage and a never-before-seen look at one of America's favorite rappers. Does the documentary hold up all the way through? Craig and Andy get into all of it!

Craig Elsten and Drew Steck get back together to take a close look at the middle three episodes of the first season of "Severance" on Apple TV+. Propulsive plot, high-level performances and unmatched style make Severance a major 2022 hit. The guys look at the developments from episodes 4-6 and speculate on future plot twists.

Craig Elsten and Liddy Loree review The Tourist, a fun diversion of a six-episode puzzlebox comedy airing on HBO Max. Jamie Dornan is usually dour, dramatic or sexy, but can he do comedy? The answer is a pleasing YES. Next up, a look at the full season of Pam & Tommy on Hulu. This series wound up being much better than our reviewers expected, find out why!

Craig Elsten welcomes back Liddy Loree to the podcast, and they've got two great shows to talk about this week. First, a complete look at "Somebody Somewhere", Craig's new #1 show for 2022 so far. Bridgett Everett's series is so heartfelt, authentic and filled with lived-in characters, including our top performance of the year to date by Jeff Hiller. Listen to two people gush about one show, then wait for our First Look review of "The Dropout", featuring a remarkable acting performance from Amanda Seyfried.

Craig Elsten is joined by Drew Steck to discuss the first three episodes of "Severance" on AppleTV+, a fascinating new puzzle box thriller with a unique concept. Then, the guys go long on the conclusion of "1883" on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan's decision to end the show after one season, and the ups and downs (mostly ups) of the Oregon Trail western.

Craig Elsten is joined by a pair of guests on this week's show to take a first look at two new streaming TV programs. First, Megan Reindl makes her Crossing Streams debut to discuss Single Drunk Female, airing weekly on Freeform and Hulu. What makes this show both a funny and real look at early sobriety? Then, Tom Callahan returns to the pod to talk about the very fun and exciting Reacher, airing on Amazon Prime Video.

Craig Elsten is re-joined by Ken Gartin (@RedTheTrucker on Twitter) to go through the full first season of Peacemaker, streaming on HBO Max. James Gunn has found the sweet spot of comedy and drama and delivers both with action on top in this spinoff of The Suicide Squad. Find out what the guys thought of the finale, and what could be upcoming in Season 2!

Craig Elsten is joined by our Crossing Streams Official Nerd Culture Correspondent Ken Gartin to go through the finale of "The Book of Boba Fett", and the series as a whole. Disney+ shook up the series at the midway point, and things got a LOT better...but do we need to see more? We spoil the big events of the finale and go through our feelings. Then, Ken gives our listeners a list of where you can watch the key movies up for Oscars this season.
