The story of the Good Samaritan is a well-known story in the Bible. However, it can overshadow the preceding interaction between Jesus and a lawyer. The lawyer was looking for a loophole in the idea of helping a neighbor, so Jesus defined a neighbor as being anybody in need. In order to grow in love for our neighbors, we need to be more aware of who is in need, what their needs are, and what we can do to meet the needs.

Over the past several weeks, Pastor Dennis has been talking about the heart. In this final installment in the series, he shows what it means to have a heart like God. As the Israelites began to return to Jerusalem, there was still a lot of work to do to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. Nehemiah was able to remind the people that God is powerful and that He would protect them. This week, Doug reminds us that God is bigger than any of the obstacles in our lives. God has put us in places and times in our lives to let us be part of His story, and we are to respond to His call.
