“Confidence really is constant practice; it's an attitude. It's a mental attitude that is first planted within ourselves and then our job is to nurture it and water it, and then we birth it out through our presence.” - Lynnecia Eley
Just like talents and abilities, confidence is developed through practice. It’s not something that we are immediately good at from the time we were born, but rather something that becomes a skill because of our unique experiences.
In this episode, I am joined by the Confidence Doula, Lynnecia Eley, as we talk further about confidence, building, practicing it, maintaining it, and more. Listen to the many mantras that she shares with us that are easy to incorporate into our daily practices, a perfect way to start 2022!

Have you ever had this amazing idea in your head - be it as big as starting a business or as “simple” as launching your own podcast—and you sit around waiting for your fear to subside while you witness other people actually turn this same incredible idea of yours into a reality? Think about all the missed opportunities and ‘could have beens’.
The past months, battling the pandemic and other challenges, have shown us that the life we have at the very moment can be changed in a snap. And so, while scary as it may be, it's important to face our fears and not let them keep us from the success that awaits us on the other side of fear.
Fear takes on a life of its own, and our emotions sometimes control us more than we control them. While some may have the misconception that it’s “all in our heads”, it’s actually very real. It can make us become disillusioned about what we want in the present, which causes us to be complacent and stuck in our own comfort zone, too afraid to think outside the box or take risks.
Being constantly in a state of fear keeps us from taking the next steps towards new things. It keeps us playing small because of the instinct of sticking with something familiar and comfortable.
In this episode, I’m joined by Nortosia Scott, a Certified Abundant Life Coach. Listen to how she finally lives up to her purpose of changing lives and seeing everyone win as she shares her experience in conquering the fear of the unknown - even her fear of jumping into the ocean!
Here in this episode, I also share with you a seemingly silly fear that I have recently overcome in this episode: drink alcohol that’s blended with ice cream! While Nortosia shares how overcoming one of her long-standing fears helped her enjoy her vacation even more.

"We must be willing to embrace our power so that we can go, be, do, have and achieve, whatever it is that we want. And it's that sense of empowerment that allows us to shake off fear and truly become." - Denise Taylor
A professional and stable career, a happy family, a prosperous business, a loaded bank account, or luxurious cars and gadgets. Success may come in any of these tangible forms that are easily noticed by people. But have we ever thought of looking beyond the things that are seen by the naked eye? Maybe.
Go. Be. Do. Have. Achieve.
People may reach great heights but still, hide themselves behind these successes just to run away from their unspoken pains and experiences. Who would want others to see their scarred faces? No one, right? That’s why this episode is focused on helping people manage and claim the power they lost in their complicated past and redefining strength and what it truly means.
It is a great honor to have with me Denise Taylor, a professional coach, podcast and conference host, and success strategist. This episode is full of realizations about pain, power, success, strength, self-love, faith, and how these factors are used to reach greater heights, succeed, and become unstoppable.

As an entrepreneur, time is one of our biggest assets. For most of us, we juggle work, family time, building our business, and taking care of our well-being altogether.

Yummy food, all the Christmas presents, and of course, don’t forget your Christmas mimosa! Whatever this holiday concoction may be for you, go ahead, you do you.
But in the midst of all the holiday cheers and merriment, entrepreneurs (hello you and me) may already be thinking about the coming year and how that will look like, both from an entrepreneurial and personal point of view. And this is the perfect time to be reflecting on the incoming year. So pop the cork, go on parties with friends and loved ones, enjoy a good holiday shopping spree - because heck, you deserve it! Time and time again, our history and legacy have been told through the eyes of non-black people. Black women, particularly, have been portrayed as angry, uneducated, intimidating, etc. Often we are made to feel that we have little to no control over our destiny.
However, we know the truth. We are Queens... Goddesses.
This third installment in the three-part Unchained Goddess series, where my powerful and pearl-dropping co-authors of the book share their own personal stories of triumph, struggle, and wisdom with the goal of helping others unlock the goddess in them.
Part 3 circles around our own encounters with situations that involve racism, spirituality, social stigmas, stereotypes, and even at times judgment from others. These things happened for us, not to us. They led us to a path that brought personal, professional, entrepreneurial, and social growth and expansion.
This project is proof that a group of black women can work together, support each other, uplift each other, and speak life into each other as black women, all without drama.
My fellow goddesses and authors, Andrea “Infiniti” Jones, Shameka Jones, Jena Robinson, Dawn Kristin Ellison, Tierra Womack, and Paula Nichole Goode, also share their tips on how to live the most opulent life while staying true to their most authentic goddess self. Because it is only by living out and embracing our true identity can we live out our God-given purpose.

Situational factors play a part, like losing your job or the death of a close family member. These have an impact on our mental health, and we cannot just ignore them.
- Shakia Mayer
“You’re crazy!”
It’s a phrase often carelessly thrown in conversations without any second thought as to how it affects the person being referred to as “crazy”. Why should we even be careful, right? After all, it’s just a joke.
But is it just a joke?
We think words never hurt, but they actually do. That’s why this episode is centered around shedding light on the various stigmas surrounding mental illness and why we should all be thinking about the state of our mental health.
And I’m delighted to have with me Shakia Mayer, a licensed mental health clinician, and personal development coach. My time with Shakia was super enriching and it awakened me to some of the most crucial issues surrounding mental health.
According to Shakia, when we talk about mental illness, we're looking at a person’s mood, behavior, way of thinking, emotions, and his or her ability to self-regulate.
But what struck me the most was the connection between living in impoverished, lower-income communities and having post-traumatic stress disorder.
Shakia and I also go through various mental health conditions, symptoms of people who may be suffering from mental illness, and how to find support for you or your loved one who may be struggling with said conditions.
October may be mental health awareness month, but we should all prioritize our mental health all year round and continuously educate and enlighten ourselves about each other’s plight, but more importantly, those who are suffering from various mental illnesses. Listen to this episode to know more.

How do you recognize if you are in a relationship that is entrenched in domestic abuse?
Most women can go on in their relationships - marital or otherwise - without fully knowing and understanding that they are in fact abused or experiencing abuse in different forms.
All the more reason why I make it my personal mission to always provide a platform where we can tackle topics and have difficult conversations that we might consider messy or uncomfortable - and the issue of domestic abuse is one stark example. Countless women have suffered long enough without seeing any glimmer of hope or receiving any type of support or opportunity for recovery.
This week, I have Tracey Forde joining me. Tracey is a Trauma Healing and Mindset Coach, motivational speaker, and founder editor of the inspirational blog, plantedtoflourish.com. Tracey shares her own story of domestic abuse, the power behind acceptance and a strong mindset, and finding the courage to step forward and deal with the most difficult of situations.
My conversation with Tracey prompted some important questions that we must ask ourselves as we start building a relationship or have been involved with someone for quite a while. Are we willing to listen to our instincts and intuition when it comes to our significant other, or do we drown out our inner voice telling us to slow down, take a beat, and get to know the person more? Are we sensitive enough to see the red flags in a relationship, or do we drop everything in the name of love even though the signs are all there? Oh, and of course there is more.
A word of caution for those listening to this episode, this may be triggering and could drudge up painful, traumatic memories that you’d want to never think about again, so if you need to pause do so.
