  • Who’s on Your Board?

Let’s face it: We live in a world full of choices and unlimited amounts of information available to us when making decisions.  Regardless of whether it is a job change, a health decision, or a relationship conundrum, taking your ideas through your personal board of directors will help sift through the options and consider all the possible outcomes, with pros and cons. What’s more, your board will tell you as it is! This is why it is very important to select the best members for your board.

In today’s episode, I speak about the importance of networking and having a personal board of directors. The connections that you have in life are important. They could make or break you. Having the right connections with people will help enhance your career growth and position you in different areas of your life.

    In a nutshell, I highlight:

    • The importance of networking and having your own board of directors.
    • How to qualify the members of your personal board.
    • Some of the key roles you should have in your board of directors.
    • What you can achieve by bringing on the best board member combination.

    ...and so much more!

  • Trauma from Black Mamas

Toxic relationships can include relationships with toxic mothers. Oftentimes, toxic mothers do not treat their children with respect as individuals. When we grow up with dysfunctional parenting, we may not recognize it as such. It feels familiar and normal. We may be in denial and not realize that we’ve been abused emotionally, particularly if our material needs were met.

In today’s episode, I speak with Aja Marie, a mom of one, entrepreneur, daughter, sister, and friend. Aja is a homeschooling mama who has found a way to use words, in various forms, to express herself and connect with others. She shares her childhood experiences and how she’s making a conscious decision to raise a son that understands the power of boundaries.

In a nutshell, we speak about:

    • What trauma really is and how to identify it.
    • Raising a productive, valuable child without being a permissive parent.
    • Developing your intuition without becoming a toxic mother.
    • Why her work specifically focuses on the relationship between a black daughter and a black mother.
    • Some of the traumas that Aja has seen are beyond some of the obvious things.
    • Healing from the trauma caused by our mothers.
    • How she’s chosen to be intentional about how she interacts with her son.
    • How culture affects the kind of person that someone becomes.

Aja is on a mission to help women recognize and heal from black mama trauma. You don’t want to miss the valuable information she shares in this episode!

  • Identity Check

Do you find yourself often pulled between what you want and what others around you want? Are you constantly hiding your true self and putting up a fake facade? Do the thoughts of other people affect you badly? It’s time to start living for yourself and not others! We all have unique inner greatness just waiting to be recognized and let out. Until we recognize who we truly are, our qualities, beliefs, and personalities will remain unnurtured.

In today’s episode, I talk about identity checks and what it takes to be true to yourself. Identity goes beyond the physical aspect of our lives. It encompasses memories, experiences, feelings, relationships, and values that makeup oneself. Embracing your true identity will determine whether you go after those things you want to achieve, or prevent you from reaching your goals.

    In a nutshell, I cover:

    • How identity affects our relationship with the people around us.
    • Getting started on your personal development journey while appreciating your flaws and imperfections.
    • Setting healthy boundaries and holding yourself accountable.
    • Living your life to the fullest potential.
    • Some of the principles you must have in order to achieve your goals.
    • Running your race while still being authentic and true to yourself.
    • Living your life by your own rules and apologetically.

    ...and so much more!

  • What's Your Relationship With Money?

Have you ever really taken time to think about your relationship with money, the way you spend or don't spend it? Do you believe that money is the root of all evil, or do you see it as a tool? Truth is, your mindset about money has a direct influence on how quickly you make it and how quickly you lose it. If you are interested in knowing more about this, tune in to today’s episode!

In this episode, I speak with Nicole Rong, a capacity coach. We have a very real conversation about our money mindset and the impact that has on our lives. Nicole shares how she was able to change her mindset around money despite the fact that growing up, her view was a bit different. This wife and mother of two have steadily and successfully climbed the corporate ladder by supporting 1000s of employees globally, so she knows what it's like to wear many hats and juggle competing priorities. Nicole is on a mission to increase their capacity for sustainable success by creating a balance between their personal and professional life.

You might want to have your pen and paper close because the nuggets that Nicole shares are worth writing down!

In a nutshell, we speak about:

    • Nicole’s money story.
    • How our money mindset is shaped by what we saw and what we learned while growing up.
    • Impacts of parents ruining their children's credit before they are even of age.
    • What it took for Nicole to change her money mindset.
    • How money problems impact other areas of our lives.
    • Limiting beliefs about money and understanding the truth about money misconceptions.
    • Why you need to create several streams of income
    • Why we’ve got to stop telling ourselves that we have to work twice as hard to make money.
    • What you can do to instill a positive mindset into your children.

    ...and so much more!

  • Be Unapologetically Opulent

How often do you second-guess yourself? Do you find yourself wondering how you are perceived, or how your intentions might be misunderstood by others? Have you had your friends refer to you as that “bougie” friend? In my quest for finding answers to some of these questions, I came across a definition from dictionary.com that said, “a characteristic of a person who indulges in some form of the luxuries and comforts of a fancy lifestyle.” Does this definition ring a bell? If it does, this episode is for you!

In today’s episode, I talk about being unapologetically opulent. After all, who wants to be broke and worried about how to pay bills? We all want the freedom and the ability to live the life we desire, and this episode encourages you to do exactly that! Even though this world has done its best at putting the black women in a box, it is never too late to get out. Being unapologetically opulent is giving yourself permission to be all the things that society says we aren’t as black women. Your intelligence, drive, ambition and independence isn't intimidating. At least not to the right people. It is phenomenal!

Consider this episode a go-ahead to be your unapologetically opulent self!

  • Activism Redefined with Nerissa Street

We all know how difficult the past 18 months have been. Many of us have felt anger, disgust, sadness, and helplessness. The things that we have seen have called many into action, and others to question how to take meaningful action. Many took to the streets in a bid to protest against some of the unfair treatment they were receiving and advocate for civil rights. Truth is, activism now is very different from what it used to be while we were growing up.

In today’s episode, I am with Nerissa Street, the founder of Black Women Podcasting. She is a multiple award-winning storytellers who has found a unique way to help professionals trust their stories to lead a powerful, authentic life. • Why you should speak your own story and still be okay with being who you want to be.

    • How you can take a bolder step to affect the change that you want to see.
    • How to go about effecting the change you want to see behind the scenes.
    • How parents can help their kids understand and process what is going on right now.

  • Live Your Life as a Business

Entrepreneurs spend so much time building out processes to keep their business running like a well-oiled machine. These systems are the nuts and bolts of everything the business does; without them, the whole thing would fall apart. Few of us apply the same mentality to our personal lives even though there are many similarities in which our lives mimic businesses. So why not manage your life like a business would manage your brand?

In today’s episode, I speak about the need to run your life like a business, and the key areas you should focus on. If successful businesses and individuals evaluate and assess their opportunity costs when making key decisions, why don’t you?

Tune in to learn more about:

Instances where our lives mimic businesses and the need for streamlined processes to govern our lives

    • How to define your why with long term goals in mind
    • Why you should consider investing in yourself - after all, you are the CEO of your life!
    • The need for assessing your opportunity costs and the benefits of outsourcing

    ...and so much more!

If your business is stagnant and leaves you tired every single day, or if you’d like to know how you can figure out your next move that will enhance the quality of your life, this episode is for you!

  • Mornings, Movement, and Mindfulness

Imagine you’re walking through a city, enjoying the fresh air, and delighting in the bustle and energy of the streets. You take a seat on a bench near a busy intersection, safely tucked away from traffic. You’re happy to rest for a moment and take in the sights and sounds. What goes through your mind as you witness the traffic? You might notice the make, model, and color of each car that passes. Perhaps you take note of how fast a particular car whooshes by. Maybe you see another car run a red light. You allow yourself to observe these visual cues and understand them as information, without the need to interpret them as good, bad, wrong, or right. That right there is mindfulness!

When was the last time you practiced mindfulness in your day-to-day activities? In this week’s episode, I am joined by Lauren DeVera, a Certified Positive Psychology Practitioner, Mindset Coach, Yoga + Mindfulness Teacher, Movement Artist, Podcaster and Speaker. Lauren guides people through overwhelm and anxiety through movement, mindfulness & inner work to help realize and achieve their wildest dreams. In this episode we talk about:

    • What exactly mindfulness is and how to achieve it
    • Creating a meaningful yet manageable morning routine
    • The importance of having a flexible evening ritual
    • Why movement is an important addition to your daily routine
    • Reflection, gratitude and spiritual practice
