  • Jocelyn Arndt - Episode 196

14 Jan 2014: At a concert for Canajoharies Music on Main Street, Dave Michaels of WEXT heard Jocelyns powerful voice (she was then 13) and said he would play them on the air if they ever did any originals. So, they wrote some songs. A little while later, at a parade in Springfield Center, the kids were again noticed, this time by an insurance promoter who commissioned them to write a jingle for a national insurance campaign. With this money (and some from a follow up jingle) their band, 'The Dependents' produced their critically acclaimed album, 'Dry Cereal'. True to his word, Dave Michaels immediately put the title track in rotation on the radio. The Dependents continued to make progress, dominating online music sites like Number One Music with 2 number one hits and five top 10s out of over 100,000 songs and on IAC Music where they had hit after hit. Alternative stations as far away as Cairns, Australia were spinning their songs. The kids were then asked to play the Fonda Fair in summer of 2012. This ended up being their break out show, as producer David Bourgeois of White Lake Music and post had heard them online and decided to go the show to see if the voice and song writing hed heard were actually for real. They were. Jocelyn and Christian entered negotiations for a development contract soon afterwards, and are now constantly in the studio laying down new and ever better songs for their new label. Jocelyn, always the serious student, is attending Harvard College but continues to record, mostly when she isnt studying. Christian has applications out and has been solicited by some great schools as well. In the next few months things should sort themselves out for him. In the mean time the siblings continue to write and have completed vocals for their first album (and part of a second) for Bridge Road Entertainment, the performance arm of White Lake Music and Post. The goal of these young musicians is to bring their music to a national level. Judging by songs like 'Nevermind' and 'Two Left Feet', they might just make it.
