Today's episode features a heavenly conversation between Jimmy and Caitlin Yarsky as they discuss her Dark Horse Comics series Living Hell. Caitlin is both drawing and writing this series about Jerome, a husband, father, and demon, desperate to avoid Hell's bounty hunters. Issue 1 came out November 6th and issue 2 will hit your LCS on January 8th. Jimmy described the series as Supernatural meets Good Omens. Jimmy and Caitlin discuss the series, her experiences pulling double duty, as well as her influences. Plus Jimmy gets to gush about the print he bought from Caitlin at Baltimore Comic-Con of Picard with the flute from "Inner Light", Jimmy's favorite episode of TNG.

On today’s episode of the Cryptid Creator Corner I’ve got returning guest John Harris Dunning on the show with me to chat about his new Dark Horse Comics Project, Ripperland, co-written by Steve Orlando, with artwork from Alessandro Oliveri, colors by Francesca Vivaldi, and lettering duties covered by Fabio Amelia. We touched on the project in October when John dropped in for our Horror Movie Recommendation Special that Dark Horse co-sponsored with us, but I wanted to hear the full picture, so we made time during the busy holiday season to sit down again for a bit.

Ripperland is set in a dystopian future where Victorian England has become a historical theme park for American tourists. Alan Moore’s From Hell has been an all-time favorite of mine so it was a delight to hear John’s take on the cultural implications of the Jack the Ripper mythos and the wider nuances he’s exploring about our national identities and how they interact through the detectives in the story working collaboratively to solve a murder. He also shares what the collaboration process has been like working with Steve on the project.

Ripperland is out in stores on January 22, 2025. Make sure to call your shop and have them pull you a copy in advance and check the shelves for his other Dark Horse project Summer Shadows, a steamy romance thriller set on a remote Greek Island that was a favorite of mine in 2024. DC December ends with none other than returning guest Jeremy Adams! Jeremy and Jimmy talk about Jeremy's incredible run on The Flash, his current work on Green Lantern, the Fractal Lanterns, the new Green Lantern Corps series, and taking over Aquaman. If I were Jeremy I'd be looking to Blue Lantern Saint Walker and hoping I could keep all these different balls in the air! (Jimmy made me include this Saint Walker reference). Jeremy is a nerd's nerd when it comes to comics. It's clear in all his work how much he loves these characters. This conversation is an incredible way to end DC DECEMBER and hear about some of the great DC Comics fans have to look forward to in 2025.

It's DC December and Tom King returns to the Cryptid Creator Corner for the 3rd time. Chris Condon returns to the Cryptid Creator Corner today as part of Jimmy's DC December. Chris is the writer of such incredible series as That Texas Blood and The Enfield Gang Massacre. DC December continues! Christopher Cantwell is an Eisner Award nominee and one of the writers and creators of the TV show Halt and Catch Fire. Christopher joins Jimmy on the Cryptid Creator Corner to talk about Plastic Man No More (the trade is out April 8, 2025) as well as the brand new Challengers of the Unknown (issue #1 is out December 18, 2024). Every time Eisner and Ringo Nominated Steve Foxe comes on the show to chat with me, I'm blown away by just how many projects he's dropping. In this episode, we're covering three of them primarily. Today I’m joined by returning guest musician turned comics writer Scott Hoffman. Scott has been on twice before promoting his other projects Wag and Nostalgia and he’s got a new book hitting shelves with DSTLRY called Warm Fusion, a futuristic sci fi/horror about a bleak New York future and the pitfalls of biotech gone wrong. We talk about the motivations behind this exciting new book, getting ready for a Spring Tour in the UK with his band the Scissor Sisters, and a unique vinyl record collaboration associated with the book with DJ Hi-Tek of Die Antwoord.

DSTLRY, the next-generation publisher redefining creator-owned comics and collectibles, is thrilled to announce Warm Fusion, a new sci-fi horror mystery series by writer Scott Hoffman (Nostalgia, Wag, member of pop icons Scissor Sisters) and artist Alberto Ponticelli (Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E., Orc Island). The series will debut this December, plunging readers into a nightmarish vision of New York City as biotech corporations unleash atrocities to rival the serial killers stalking the night. 

Half a century into the future, New York City has been devastated by crime, ongoing storms, residual radiation from a terrorist attack, and genetic mutations spurred by the medical innovations created in response. After a series of murders rip through the city’s brothels, an escort named Vin Young, who cosplays as the Brothers Grimm’s Snow White—and is one of the generation of deformed victims—pursues the killer, or killers, reluctantly joining forces with Jarrod Hannover, the lone cop assigned to the case. The two eventually arrive at a biotech megacorp developing a cellular metal called Warm Fusion—a pioneering technology meant to replace prosthetics limbs—and soon confront the sociopathic scientist Nicholas Fleischer, his monstrous alter-ego, Mr. Barnaby, and the hideous monster that he’s been secretly developing.

Warm Fusion combines the visceral body horror of David Cronenberg with the dystopian urban sprawl of Blade Runner, offering a chilling experience for fans of sci-fi benchmarks including Videodrome, The Thing, and RoboCop.

“Warm Fusion is a deep dive into the grotesque possibilities of biotechnology and its impact on humanity,” says writer Scott Hoffman. “Alberto Ponticelli’s art is transportive, blurring the lines between flesh, machine, and everyone caught in the gutters between.
