Wendi Muse is a PhD Candidate in History at New York University. Her research analyzes Lusophone Africans' impact on the Brazilian left through intellectual and political exchange during the Cold War. In addition to her doctoral work, Wendi holds an MA in Latin American Studies and has conducted research regarding Afro-Brazilian women’s political organizing throughout the 20th century. Wendi is presently a 2017-2018 New York Public Humanities Fellow and a recipient of the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship to support her research in Brazil, Portugal, and Mozambique. Wendi is the creator of the hashtag #LeftPOC and the Left POCket Project, which uses digital media to make the histories of leftists of color more easily accessible to the public.
