The Millennial Spinsters begin their podcasting journey with a BANG in this inaugural episode of Cultural Waste Management: Commitment Issues. This week, they strap themselves in (maybe literally) to watch Fifty Shades of Grey.
As they try to understand the appeal of billionaire abuser and fake dominant Christian Grey, your hosts completely lose the plot (not that there was much to hang on to in the first place).
As with all our episodes, you don't need to watch the movie to understand or enjoy this episode. If you do end up watching it, please don't hold it against this podcast.
However, there are some things to keep in mind if you don't know anything about Fifty Shades of Grey (or Twilight):
- Fifty Shades of Grey started as a Twilight fanfiction that imagined the characters Bella, Edward, and various others if they met in their early/mid 20's... and oh yeah what if Edward was a "dominant" and very bad at actual BDSM
While your hosts aren't active members of the BDSM community, they're pretty sure actual BDSM requires a lot more communication, trust, and respect than is shown in Christian & Ana's crap relationship"Moustache Dad" refers to Bella's dad from the movies as seen below
