  • Holly Varnum: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made – The Human Brain

Mary chats with Holly Varnum of Reasons for Hope in her role as Director of Curriculum Development, writer, editor and proofreader. With a new school year looming, once again we turn our thoughts to how to best educate our kids, in the way that they should go – as individuals made in God’s image, male and female. Holly has a love of teaching truth and having a strong biblical worldview. In these times of gender homogenization, what are the hard-wired differences in the brains of men and women? How does acknowledging and living out these differences bring glory to God? Holly has some fascinating insights into our God-given traits and physical characteristics that originate in the brain. In particular, we look at how we learn differently and to celebrate the differences, while the world tries its best to erase them. Thought provoking, mind altering topic!

  • Julaine Appling: Pro-Life, Polling, and Population Peaks

Julaine Appling is back with us today to discuss the 2nd half of 2024, pertaining to pro-life and polling issues that affect not just Wisconsin but are intertwined with state and national issues. We talk about the upcoming Wisconsin primary in August, and the importance of being educated about what the candidates stand for; also understanding the referenda being voted upon. These can be especially difficult to navigate if they are worded in a convoluted way. We also look at changes to the Wisconsin Constitution regarding enshrining abortion rights into this document. Is the state Supreme Court legislating instead of interpreting the law? How can that not be a power play? Another issue with the state court is how a governor might look at his role in spending federal funding, ie, Covid monies distributed to Wisconsin, in particular. Also on the podcast we look at global demographics that continue to plunge, and the what, why and how.

  • Debbie Wuthnow: Voting Wisely, Praying Fervently

Mary Danielsen chats with Debbie Wuthnow of iVoterGuide on getting educated about the candidates that best reflect our morals and mandates as believers. iVoterGuide is dedicated to equipping Americans to be informed and educated on the candidates and the process. Debbie is the vice-president of AFA Action and a member of the board. She has been with iVoter since 2011 and in that time, they have evaluated 13,000 candidates. In this important and contentious voting cycle, America appears to be at a critical juncture in so many ways. Issues such as right to life, religious liberty, immigration and inflation, to name a few, are very important to our citizenry, and yet there are so few answers and even more division. We talk about our responsibilities in the area of hard won freedom and also how to pray for our leaders, when often we neglect this responsibility because of the compromise of the politicians. A thoughtful hour.

  • Replay – Dave Wager: Prepare For The Godless Times We Are Facing from 2nd Peter

[Original airdate: 4/17/23 Today, we visit with Dave Wager from Silver Birch Ranch & Relate365.com. Andy “Crash” Connell took the mic for the hour. Dave encourages the listener on how true believers can prepare for the Godless times we’re in and what’s ahead. The passage Dave discusses is 2 Peter 1:5-10:

    Fruitful Growth in the Faith

5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; (NKJV)

  • Martyn Iles: Who Am I? Solving the Identity Puzzle

Mary chats with Martyn Iles, Executive CEO of Answers in Genesis. He is an Australian-born lawyer and commentator, specializing in the areas of freedom of religion, conscience, and speech. He is also known for his many gospel-focused appearances in the Australian mainstream media and for his online programs, “Living in Babylon”, “The Truth of It”, and “Truth in 10”.  Today we focus on his new book, “Who Am I? Solving the Identity Puzzle”, which delves into the false identity worldview that is all around us. Looking deep within ourselves not only yields no truthful answers to this age old query, it actually yields the wrong answers about what it truly means to be made in God’s image and living that out every day. With all the mental health obsessions and emotionally based school curricula, which is also in the church, are we any closer to understanding it’s not about us – nor has it ever been? All the subjective internal contemplation we can pursue in our short lives will never tell us what we need to know about the God who made us and Who reveals objective truth about our Creator, creation, life, death, and beyond.

  • Replay – Jason Jimenez: Parenting Gen Z

[Original airedate: 11/3/23] Mary talks to Jason Jimenez about his new book, Parenting Gen Z and the specific challenges parents face with youth who are utterly dependent – on technology. So many things have changed, and there are people being born and raised and mired in cultural changes that are significantly more challenging than previous generations. What is unique to these young people? What are they fearful of? Are they interested in spiritual matters?  Many believe they don’t know how to conduct meaningful relationships which cannot bode well for future marriages and parenting. And yet, every generation needs truth; they need unconditional love; they need a Saviour. Helping parents navigate the differentials is a task of the utmost importance and Jason is there with a well-thought out guide.

  • Replay – James Spencer: Fixing a Broken World – Balancing Politics and the Great Commission

[Original airdate 11/10/23] James Spencer, President of the D.L. Moody Center, talks to Mary Danielsen about balancing politics with the Great Commission and what it means to find our identity in Christ. More and more, Christians are allowing politics to shape their worldview and the practices of the church, causing divisions among the brethren. There may come a time that we need to ask ourselves if we have become disciples of a particular political tribe rather than disciples of Christ – at the very least measurable in the amount of time we spend on either.

In his thoughtful article, “Render to God what is God’s: Reflecting Christ in Politics”, James says, “When God’s people take up causes, we run the risk of those causes distorting our vision of God. We run the risk of justifying our pursuit of the cause by making the cause an idol and tying God to it. When this happens, we no longer act as if we believe that His ways are beyond our ways, or that His thoughts are beyond our thoughts. God conforms to us. We then determine how the problems we face must be solved and God no longer directs. He becomes a resource rather than a ruler.”   Join us for a timely chat on what it means to count all things loss for the excellence of knowing Christ.
