Current Moods w/ Joshua Wentz episodes

  • Episode 52: Emerald Shores
Feeling the push and pull of the tides. Forming an imperfect natural rhythm. Swaying in the current as it shifts around you.
Today's episode is another using the Alesis Micron and Korg KP3.

  • Episode 51: Cool Canopy
A new week! Play it cool, make sure you're ready for the tasks ahead. The best way to make sure you can take on any challenge is to be prepared for them to appear.
Today's episode uses the Alesis Micron through a Korg KP3, as well as several VST synths.

  • Episode 50: Behind the Fort (Live to Tape)
We've made it through another week. This one was unexpectedly busy for me, so the weekend should feel all the more relaxing.
Today's episode features the Logic X Alchemy synth. Thanks for listening; we'll see you next week!

  • Episode 49: Watching Grade
Momentum is good, but can tend to feel reckless at times. It can help you stay on track, but might throw you off the edge as well. Remember to check the brakes every now and then.

  • Episode 47: Dropoff Accounting
Can serenity come from chaos? Today's episode came from the tiniest sliver of an idea: to record some guitar and use the EXC24 sampler to reorganize it. Everything after that point followed that very basic, barely planned idea.
The result is a higher energy episode with some frantic guitar bits amidst drums and keyboard patterns. If you find moments of peace amidst crowded streets, this one might be for you.

  • Episode 46: Cliff Bells
Sometimes you start with a blank slate, an empty page, and no specific goal. As Lewis Caroll noted, "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there."
Ring in a new week with a chimey, chill episode! Everything on today's Current Moods was created with VST instruments in Logic X.

  • Episode 45: Elk Crossing (Live to Tape)
It's Friday! A bright, mildly warm weekend is in store for us in Chicago, so hopefully it's the same for you elsewhere.
Looking back on this week's episodes, it has been a fairly loose, experimental week. It's nice to go to new places and try things that you're not absolutely sure you'll work.
That applies to today's live to tape episode as well. The Korg volca keys was used again, but alongside the Roli Seabaord Block. Playing them simultaneously is something I haven't tried before. It was a challenge to improvise on both instruments at the the same time, but I enjoyed it.
Take care; see you next week!

  • Episode 44: Climb to Clear
To get over a mountain, you have to climb it. If you are finding that there is a particular obstacle keeping you from your goal, focus on it and form a plan to overcome it. Chances are that once you stop seeing the mountain as an insurmountable wall, you'll discover that a path has been there all along. It may be a difficult one, but not impossible.
Today's episode uses the Korg Wavedrum as well as some Logic X software synths.
