Current Moods w/ Joshua Wentz episodes

  • Episode 32: Murano Glass
In the year 1291 all of the glassmakers of Venice were forced to practice on Murano Island in order to protect the rest of the city's population from potential fires. Since that point it was known as a focal point for innovation in materials and styles for glasswork.
I was fortunate to be traveling with a glass artist while in Venice many years ago. Because of his knowledge I was able to visit the home and studio of Lino Tagliapietra, an artist whose work I did not know.
Bring yourself together with people who are passionate about your passions in order to deepen your knowledge. Allow for serendipity to introduce you to new things that will broaden your knowledge.

  • Episode 31: Orienteering Lesson
Do you know how to read a map? To position yourself in the right direction without turn-by-turn instructions? It's surprisingly easy to get lost, even when you are fairly certain of where you're headed. And no matter where you go... there you are. Is that were you want to be?

  • Episode 30: Toward Depth (Live to Tape)
Today's live recording was done using the Korg Minilogue, sent through an Earthquaker Dispatch Master and an Electro Hamonix Memory Man - both of which are wonderful pedals.
Have a great weekend and we'll see you next week!

  • Episode 29: The Only Moment
Solitude can be stimulating, but no one lives in a vacuum. Even people with the privelege of chosen isolation require moments to connect to other people. Motivation comes in many forms - sometimes being alone with your thoughts is the right choice. Other times a good conversation is rejuvenating.
Make sure you accept these moments of solitude as well as ones of togetherness.

  • Episode 27: Open Isolations
Today's episode is more uptempo and contemporary in tone. Sometimes you just need to get moving. Be active, propel yourself forward, make connections, and stay sharp.

  • Episode 24: Dawnbreaker
With the recent Daylight Savings Time switch, we've pushed away the sun's entrance each morning. For those of us who enjoy starting the day with lightness and warmth it can be a shock to the system. Hopefully by now your rhythms have adjusted. Sometimes all of our sequences align, other times they are out of balance.
Today's episode is about irregular rhythms and how they can coalesce and disperse. Nothing is set to a metronome, nothing is played at the same pace.
