There are promises in Scripture that God would redeem His people and His creation. Yet, who could imagine that God Himself would take on the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. The Eternal Son enters His creation by the will of the Father and power of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! Finally, a Redeemer worthy of God has arrived.

We have a God of preparation and as we look to begin the gospel of John, we are preparing ourselves for the receiving of the Lord Jesus Christ: the Gospel, His life, His ministry, His death and resurrection. God used the prophet Malachi to prepare their hearts to ready them, and even indite them, on the areas where they needed to stop putting Him second, to stop putting Him in the foyer. In this preparation sermon, we explore the life and time of Malachi and how we may not fall into the same trap of apathy and contempt toward God; so that when we witness the ministry of Jesus, we can receive it wholeheartedly; some for the first time, and others a renewal in their walk and faith.

As Paul leaves young Timothy this letter, he reminds him of first importance. That the gospel must be understood and defended by the church, and that we never depart from the simplicity and the truth of God's plan of reconciliation. So today we will touch on these topics and look to see how we can apply them to our church and our own lives.

Faith and hope are best demonstrated when we flee from idols. Paul warns Timothy to stay away from the trappings of wealth because it is a root of many kinds of evil. We also are given insight into the proper conduct of rich Christians and how they ought to conduct their lives in light of the faith.

We are sold an ideal lifestyle if we work hard to pursue great wealth but have we stopped to ask if that is the plan God has for His people? There are those who oppose the message of Jesus and the life of godliness that we are called to. Let us reject such teachers who are devoid of the truth while keeping close watch not to stumble over our own feet. Instead, remembering time is short and the stakes are so very high.

What a huge undertaking it is to follow Jesus. In this sermon, we get a glimpse of the high cost of honouring God and preserving integrity of the Disciple's teaching. No matter your status in life, we are all to uphold the faith, especially towards our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We can't just care for our ministers without also caring for church ministry itself. Are ministers of God doing the right thing in the church? Are they watching their life and doctrine? Are they safe from false charges? Will we as a church resist showing favouritism or partiality towards those in spiritual authority? The church must take responsibility for the souls within her care.
