As we approach our 4th year of existence, there are a lot of artists who we've heard of and haven't had the chance of sitting down with for whatever reason. Since 2021 we have been put on to the name of #Seefour and what this young MC is capable of within & beyond recording arts. While he's only 22 years old, he's been through a lot in life and also within the process of chasing his dreams within the music industry. It's no secret that we are and have always been a guest-based, interview-styled podcast. If you've been paying attention to the Boston Music Scene within recent years then you would know the likes of a young woman who's been giving us some fun sounding trap music, amongst other sounds, since 2018, Chelley Marie! Coming from the Dorchester area of the city, she's been around musical creatives her whole life, including her older brother Prince Smooth, who's been a repeat guest on the podcast. However, Chelley didn't take to music immediately until she dropped her now 5yr old effort "The Rapping Makeup Artist". Although she hasn't released a full body of work in quite some time, she still made her presence felt with collaborations and singles until she took a recent break that had her "Chelley Gang" supporters wanting to hear more from the artist. As she recently dropped an EP in August, it's about that time for us to learn more about Chelley Marie and see what the hiatus was about!

2021 was a great year for us as it was the 1st time we won “Best Music Podcast” at the #BostonMusicAwards and seemingly opened up our audience to new supporters within our growing scene. That was also the year that birthed another #Boston music podcast that is gaining heavy traction, “Bad For The Community”! This group of young Black men consist of 4 very different creatives from Boston & Brockton; The 508 God (FKA Young Rob), Nate Nics, Tomo, & Snt Yves— who got together to form a music podcast tackling an assortment of topics ranging from their personal art to social issues. We’ve seen the work they’ve done for the past 2 years and after appearing on their podcast in late 2022, the time has come for us to collaborate again for a long overdue & transparent conversation. #CharlieMaSheen has once mentioned that BFTC is the top music podcast in the city for creatives under 30 years old while we cater mostly to the 30+ crowd and this exchange of words couldn’t have displayed this any more accurately. While we share many similarities we have very different views on the world and society as a whole. The one thing we do stand on time and time again is GOOD MUSIC; whatever our perceptions of that may be.

When it comes to the newest wave of rap artists, there is an overwhelmingly repetitive and reproduced sound in the opinions of the older Millennials who fell in love with thought provoking lyrics. That is far from the impression we get from #Mattapan native Nay Speaks!! We first heard her name from #Avenue when he was talking about rappers we should be on the lookout for back in 2020 shortly after the #QuarantineSeries and we have not been disappointed in the slightest. Just after dropping her debut project “Nayborhood Healer” we invited the Jamaican-heritage raised MC to come talk to us and tell us more about herself and how impressed we were with her musical ear.

Within the past few years in our music scene, theres no debate that the women have been collectively crushing it with their creativity & thinking outside of the box. If you go back just over two years, there was a young and fresh talent that emerged on the scene and she goes simply by #Kei. While her name is short and to the point, thats a drastically opposite depiction of her style and music! Since her first project #BabySteps you could tell that she was having fun with rapping but it didnt mean she wasnt doing it at a high level. Fast forward to now, she’s displayed her imagery and wordplay with her “Childs Play” project that boosted her momentum into winning #BostonMusicAwards “New Artist of the Year” for 2022‼️ Needless to say this artist needs to be heard and protected at all costs!
