Finally, we get an episode dedicated to one of the most beloved X-Men, Beast. While a political prisoner in season 1, "Beauty and the Beast" is dedicated to showing the trials of one of one of the smartest men on the planet and the fear and hatred he must overcome. Probably JC's favorite portrayal of Hank McCoy comes from this episode.

Ever wonder where Rogue got her super strength and flight? Want to find out more about her estranged relationship with Mystique? And where does MCU mainstay Carol Danvers fit into a 90's cartoon about mutants?

In the show's first (and possibly only) go at Multiperspectivity, we see early examples of the Butterfly Effect and the challenges of time travel. Again, this was a Saturday morning kids cartoon but the team treated their audience like adults as we saw two men fighting to save their respective presents as both Bishop and Cable must find a way to stop a techno virus to save millions without condemning billions in the future and saving mutants along the way. This two parter brought forth an epic foe with superior storytelling (and a bunch of great Marvel universe Easter eggs to boot).

Gambit has been a character shrouded in mystery with a past that hadn't been explored much leading into this episode, both in The Animated Series and even only touched upon in the comics. Getting an unexpected phone call, Gambit is pulled back into the life he had once escaped during the generational war between the Thieves and Assassins Guilds. Between a mystical woman of the swamps, a jaded ex and a family who can't seem to get things right, Gambit and the X-Men are set to have their hands full.

This week, we finally dive into Wolverine's backstory and travel to the magical land of...Canada? After getting tricked by some old friends to revisit old turf, Logan has a run in with his old team Alpha Flight. They think they're helping him but may find the powers overseeing them don't have as noble intentions as they originally thought. Is Alpha Flight just the Canadian X-Men? Find out this week with us (and also who the hell Heather is!).

With the return of one of our favorite mutants Colossus, Jubilee finds herself making her way to Russia to aid against a Soviet-era living super weapon, Omega Red. With history catching up to him yet again, Wolverine travels to aide Colossus, Jubiliee and (a non-powered) Illyana Rasputin against the one man wrecking crew Arkady Gregorivich Rossovich and an unsure Darkstar.
This Episode was recorded on March 26th, 2022. Rod and JC firmly stand against the actions taken by the Russian government against the citizens and country of Ukraine. During this recording, it was very important for us to be respectful of the current conflict so all mention around Russia is restricted to historical reference and context of this particular story.
Rod and JC wrap up the first season of Cyclops Is Waiting For Me with the final episode of the original episode order for Season 1 of X-Men: The Animated Series. Picking up on the cliffhanger of Bishop's supposed failure at preventing the assassination of Senator Kelly and finding out Magneto is involved, this episode further puts into question the logic of those fighting against mutants in an epic and climatic battle while also setting up for Season 2 (with a last minute edit added in!)

One of the more globetrotting episodes, Whatever It Takes gives us a look at more of (Rod's favorite) Storm's past when she collides with an old foe of hers and Professor Xavier's while Wolverine searches for Morph.

One of the most iconic stories in X-Men history, Days of Future Past explores TAS's take on what may happen to mutants if one man is assassinated. But, as with all time travel tales, it also explores if things are destined to happen and what can be done to shape the future. With the introduction of Bishop and Nimrod, the X-Men must face the possibilities of one of their own being an assassin, possibly targeting the Professor as their victim and having to save someone who would rather see them locked up than be free.
