After wrapping up a great collegiate career at Elmhurst College, Joe Rau jumped right into the Greco-Roman scene and continued his success at the senior level. Joe Rau is a 2x world team member for Team USA and is looking to make the olympic team at 87 KG in 2021. This episode is our longest yet! Rau dives into how he got into wrestling, moving to the Illinois RTC, his growth as a wrestler during his college days, representing the United States and much more.

ABOUT THE EPISODE

This episode features Hall of Fame Coach and current director of the Dan Gable Museum, Jim Miller. Coach Miller started his collegiate coaching career at Northern Iowa before taking the head coach position at Wartburg College. Coach Miller helped build the Knights into a perennial powerhouse in DIII. In this episode we talk about his path into coaching and how he ended up in Waverly, Iowa, the beginning years at Wartburg, his "Do it Anyway" philosophy, the transformation of the "Battle of the Burgs" rivalry, and much more! Coach Miller led the knights to 10 NCAA team titles, 21 conference titles, and 7 NWCA National Dual titles.

This episode features Eddie Smith, two-time All-American from Loras College. Eddie just finished up an impressive career with the Duhawks, he was a consistent force in the middleweights during his time in Dubuque, Iowa. During the episode we discuss when he started his wrestling career, his recruitment to Loras, the highs and lows during his transition to collegiate wrestling, and highlights from the 2019-20 season. Eddie Smith plans to continue his career at the senior level in Greco-Roman and will join the Loras coaching staff next season.

This episode features our first coach guest, Nathan Yetzer. Coach Yetzer was tabbed as the Roanoke College Head Coach back in March after spending the last eight seasons at Ferrum College. After wrapping up an impressive career at Edinboro as a collegiate wrestler, Coach Yetzer was on the fence about coaching but quickly realized he needed wrestling in his life still. In this episode we discuss how he got into coaching, how he got the Ferrum job, some of the highlights during his career at Ferrum, and how he has started to promote his new program at Roanoke College since taking on his new role back in March.
