  • Episode 041 - The Long and Winding Pod, Part 1
Wow! I mean, I knew we'd be recording for a while last weekend. But, over 7 hours? Holy cow!
Yeah, well the good news is that I have a lot of new material for you all. As you can see here, I'm breaking it up into chunks over the next few weeks. More digestible that way I think.
This first part is the opening and some discussion on the current status of the podcast compared to what it was when it all started. The opening tune is some of The Melachrino Strings from "Cool Water and Other Songs of the West" So, there's some fun banter here. Definitely worthwhile.
    See you soon!

  • Episode 040 - Stay Tuna'd

Coming out of the gates rather strongly with a little ZZ Top's "Deguello" playing on my new 1byOne turntable.

I thank you all so very much for listening and talking about what I've discussed over the past few weeks. It means alot to know that you're listening and that you appreciate what I'm saying. After all that, I launch into "What's Bugging Me?" and discuss being honest with yourself. So many people aren't and it's a shame. I discuss a book we're reading jointly at work.

Look, I won't lie. I usually hate stuff like this. The whole "corporate speak" thing reminds me of "Kids in the Hall" and their, obvious, dislike of businessmen. But, this really is different. It's more of a book to help you realize how full of it you are and how much you (and everyone around you in your life) can benefit from you just "being real" and understanding your motivations and how you behave towards others. So, it's gonna get a shout out on here.

After the break, I start in on the vinyl. You knew it was coming, so quit crying already. I talk about some recent finds you can check out by clicking right here.

Yeah, it's been a blast and I scored some great stuff with the help of my main homeboy Mikey. In addition, I was afforded the opportunity to order, set up, and review/test a great turntable system made by 1byOne. It's really great folks. If you don't mind the cost (it's a value, but not cheap), then this is what you'll wanna grab and get into vinyl. I am loving it myself! Thanks 1byOne.

In addition, I discuss my new wet cleaning system. I highly suggest you get one if you are a vinyl fan. The amount of funk that came off some of the records I have is pretty incredible. As is the way said records sound now. Absolutely amazing!

Enough of that. I discuss upcoming things like "The Mandalorian" which dropped with Disney+ Tuesday. Yes, it's amazing!

I briefly and vaguely discuss Mikey and I attending a screening of "The Lighthouse" and, yeah, well, I'll never be the same folks.

Speaking of, Mikey will be joining me on the very next special episode of the show. It's going to be a simian themed affair primarily focusing upon apes and all in our culture dealing with them. I have loved Planet of the Apes (POTA for special dorks) my entire life. I really adore the most recent trilogy also. I encouraged Mikey to view it and he agreed. So, that coupled with his belief in sasquatch should make for some entertaining listening. Don't forget to throw in some serious records playing in the background and some boozin' folks.

I can't wait for you to enjoy it next week!

Thanks for listening and, as always, please review wherever you do listen.

  • Episode 039 - Out of Control?

When it comes to vinyl? Yeah, probably. It sure is fun though.

So, I discuss the comments and impact of the previous episode's content. Specifically the "What's Bugging Me" segment in it. It was great to hear from an old friend and help him know he's not in this alone.

After the ad, I discuss more and more and more vinyl and some special testing/reviews I'm involved with. Great stuff upcoming folks. Just keep listening.

    And...thanks for listening. Please review.

  • Episode 038 - Well, that was depressing

So, I start out by owning up to the fact that I was going through a rather heavy time. I am diagnosed with Clinical Depression and sometimes it rears it's ugly head. Monday was surely a time during which this was happening. It's relatively out of my control and I DO see a therapist and take anti-depressants, so it doesn't happen like this too very often. It still does though. It sucks also, but I won't be ashamed of it and I won't hide it. It was happening when I was recording this episode, so I talked about it.

I also discuss the fact that people not addressing mental illness is something that's bugging me. It's not right that we treat it as less than anything it is.

After the ad, it's a little more upbeat episode. I discuss some records I've bought (imagine that) and a few other things.

I hope you enjoy this one. If you or someone you know is suffering from depression or any mental illness, please discuss it with a professional. It's nothing to be ashamed of and the sooner it's discussed, the sooner treatment can begin.

  • Episode 037 - Garrard Yo Self

So, I apologize for my outburst last week...sort of. Then I begin to go off a little on these folks that are seemingly in the world's biggest hurry when I'm commuting daily (primarily in the morning).

After the break, and some gloating on scoring some Episode IX tix for opening night, I go into mucho record talk. From the recent acquisitions as far as records go to the Garrard turntable system I picked up on Facebook Marketplace. It's gonna be a beauty folks. I'm planning on having some notes ready for this episode soon. Those will be here.

Thanks for listening and keep on doing so. Review when you get a chance also please.

    Lata,

  • Episode 036 - Choke THIS down!

So, in this very special episode, I go off on folks who feel empowered (falsely) on social networking.

After the break, I come back with a little more positivity and a lot less foul language. I cover some of my recent album purchases and then go into a few shows I'm watching and a TPB I'm digging as well.

Look, I've been skimping on the notes, but I'm gonna get back into the swing here soon.

For now, though, listen and enjoy me cussing up a storm about a couple of turds I had to boot on Facebook recently.

Thanks for listening and please review!

  • Epsiode 035 - Bearded Invasion

So, I wouldn't know where to begin on this episode. First off, it's a tad longer than normal. We cover alot and I drone on about a few things.

We have another call in from our buddy in the wild Orrie! (Gonna have to label him a field reporter here soon or maybe have him on as a guest.) And, the big bad news is that we have a guest in this episode. Keith Beard joins and has more than his "two cents" to throw into the mix.

We cover it all. From the "things that are bugging us" through a dramatic comic reading, it's a complete episode folks.

I appreciate you listening and you should join in the fun by going to the main page and selecting "send voice message" there. You won't be sorry.

I'll have some notes up later in the week maybe. I don't know, we covered so much stuff.

You can check out Keith on Weirded Wonder on YouTube and Facebook as well. It's good stuff folks!

    Thanks. Keep Listening. Please review.

  • Episode 034 - You Movin?

Gearing up for a big record with Keith Beard of Weirded Wonder for the next episode. Going back to the original format of the show also. Should be a keeper.

Show notes are chock full of excitement this week, so enjoy.

I can't wait to record and drop the next episode for you all. Please review!

  • Episode 033 - Telephone Line

It's a little more of the same. I mean, we have a call in from Orrie in Ohio (I know), so there's that. Fun stuff.

More vinyl and suggestions on what to watch. Do yourself a favor and check out the film "Hereditary" when you get the chance. It's incredible.

    Show notes here.

Oh yeah, it's snarky and I'm a dad. Sometimes fun and all that, but other times getting down to the nitty gritty.
