  • Episode 047 - What are we doing?

So, that's the question here. What's the answer?

I start out, rightfully, giving the Chiefs props on a kickass season and SuperBowl victory. Amazing game indeed.

Next, I go right into how we treat women in this country (and really around the world) right now. I don't get it at all. I've been listening to the podcast "Chasing Cosby" and it's remarkable how these women have been treated after coming out to announce they were assaulted by this monster. There's zero doubt he did this shit. Even if there's not, why aren't we listening to women in these situations? Why are we concerned with what they were wearing or how many times they texted/called him? I don't get it at all and it's straight up bullshit.

    Something has got to change.

Onto what I'm into. Saw "The Gentlemen" and I'd say Guy Ritchie is back on the right track. Keep heading in that direction good sir. Still enjoying rewatching "Toast of London" right now as well. The Hill House series by DC is the bee's knees as well.

"Pandemic" on Netflix is a really interesting docuseries. I would suggest you check it out, but be aware it's not a happy story at all. We all know it's going to happen, just a matter of when really.

Picked up a great album by George Harrison and it reminded me of Prince's scorching guitar solo to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" a few years ago at a tribute concert. Check this shit out!

So, I love you all. I look forward to more episodes and try to get a review in and email me to let me know. It could just win you this watch!

  • Episode 046 - Parasitic

    Back from the car...it's me!

On the subject of what's bugging me...ridiculously defending political correctness can be ridiculous. Look, I'm down with treating people better. We've evolved to the point we are and we need to act like it. Part of that is treating people fairly. I don't think we're so good at it though. Especially the radical defenders of political correctness that end up causing more issues than solving anything.

My Crosley Stack-O-Matic is rocking my house now in a much better aural way than ever thought possible. The slight mods I've put on it have really opened it up. I will defend stacker turntables til my death. It's a great way to listen to a bunch of records and cook, eat, etc. in the house. Picked up a few new gems also...

Here's a link to a photo album covering the stacker and new records.

I loved "Parasite" more than I'd imagined. If you've not seen it yet, be a grownup and watch a movie with subtitles for once in your life already. You won't be sorry.

Still watching the same old shows. You know what they are.

See you guys next week for a new episode!

  • Episode 045 - Water Warz

Lots of fun in this episode. To start off, you'll hear the lovely tones of Exotica Vol. III, by Martin Denny. Its fun music you may, or may not, like.

Straight into what's bugging me. I cannot stand that we're questioning "Climate Change" as something that's real. The evidence is in, dummies, and it's for realsies. Recycling, though very underemployed as far as an industry, is easier than ever. There's a way if you have the will. Oh, and there's a shortage of water on this planet folks. I promise you that.

After the ad, we come back to me talking all about things I'm into. I'll cut this text here short just by dropping major links...

        • Episode 044 - Are You Mental?

Well, here we are. Another week gone by. It's been hectic at Trail Estates and I'm a running to and fro with all the activities the daughter is involved in. I'm not complaining though...much anyway.

I wanted to discuss mental illness awareness some more. I know, broken record right? Thing is, I'm free. I've come clean and I discuss my issues freely. Most people are not. They hide it and it can cause more damage that way in most folks' opinion (including my own). So, I plead for you to get help yourself and discuss this or to reach out to/for others you know who are dealing with it. Get help. Come clean.

Now, onto stuff I'm into. We're really digging on Schitt's Creek. If you've not, I suggest you give it a chance. I've discussed this with homeboy Mikey and he's not into it at all. Then again, he doesn't care for Eugene Levy...so... Anyway, it's a fun show and a slow burn when it comes to comedy. Not for everyone and not slapstick really at all. I dig it. Catherine O'Hara and Chris Elliot also star. Oh, and Eugene Levy's own son (plays his son) is in it as well.

I also recently watched "Knives Out" and really loved it. The whole family was into that one actually. I hear there's a sequel in the works and I know we cannot wait. "Inception" was a film I've been meaning to see for, well, a decade now. Finally watched it the other night. I wouldn't say I loved it. It's pretty confusing and difficult to follow at times. I am intrigued by it, however, and will be checking in on it again soon. Hard to believe this film is ten years old already. Great cast.

Finishing up the book "The Outsider" by Stephen King again. Almost done. Good thing too, as there's now an HBO series based upon it. Have to check that one out. Other than that, some new comics are around and I'm into the Joe Hill DC series books (he's the son of Stephen King ya know) and I'm becoming more excited about the Netflix adaptation of "Locke and Key." It's from a great comic series and I suggest you go out and get those Trade Paperbacks when you get the chance.

That's all for now folks. I'll catch up with you again next week.

        • Episode 043 - Filling in the Gaps

Yeah, so this one's a little rushed, but the good news is that it won't take you too awful long to listen to it.

I start off talking about folks who mindlessly follow and shrug off any facts (scientific or otherwise) to the contrary. It sucks and I know we've all dealt with it. So, I spout off about it some.

I go over some of the stuff I'm currently into and then I come back to the fact that you need to reach out for help for yourself of friends/family if it needs to happen. Don't wait. Go do it right now. Here's some places you can get some help.

          You can email me

You can leave a message here on Anchor.fm. Just click the button that says "message" friend.

You can call or chat with someone about it here and they are waiting to talk with you.

See you all again next week!

        • Episode 042 - Happy Holidays to All!

A little sneak episode for you guys right before JC's birthday.

In this episode, I'm driving to work fresh out of an appointment with my therapist. I discuss how to help yourself when you're having some thoughts associated with depression or even some anxiety. It's not fool proof by any means. You have to know when it's something more than you can handle indeed.

You might think of trying this method when you're feeling that anxiety coming on. It's helped me alot.

As far as feelings that are too much for you to handle, you need to reach out for more help. An easy way is to contact someone via phone or text that can get you settled down some and possibly into a program to help.

You can chat online with someone right now right here.

You can also call 1-800-273-8255 to talk to someone.

Please reach out if it's bigger than you. Feel free to reach out to me also. I'm available online at the following:

Do NOT try to be a superhero and handle it all on your own please.

Again, I wish you all the best and have a happy holiday season.

          I love you guys,

          Kyle

Here's the ending, finally, of this episode. So much discussed here that it's just something you must experience for yourself.

Yeah, that's about all you need right?

So, here's a link for MC Norris author page. Go pick yourself out something nice for the holidays.

We'll be back after the first of the year with some new episodes for sure.

        About Dad Snark Podcast

        From the publisher's feed

Oh yeah, it's snarky and I'm a dad. Sometimes fun and all that, but other times getting down to the nitty gritty.
