Dad's Movie Night episodes

  • DMN E47 - Major League
Brian's brother Kevin joins the fun alongside Pete and Brian as they delve into the 1989 classic Major League! A baseball movie that has more montages than a movie about montages!

  • DMN E46- Supergirl
A movie that is neither super nor 'about a girl'. Watch as swords and sorcery meet vapid overacting by established stars who clearly don't give a fuck.
Honestly I'd write more but I'm still really upset about this one.... I need another scotch.

  • DMN E45 - Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Imagine a world where Tim Burton fell asleep on his couch and randomly woke up during the night and saw a new image on his TV. Then imagine each of those bits of imagery becoming a scene in this movie.
Buckle up. It's gonna be a wild bull ride because Pee Wee's bike has just been stolen. #LSD

  • DMN E44 - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Who knew you needed a Robin Hood story told through eyes of a mildly good looking Californian like Kevin Costner? I didn't know I needed it... but here we are.
Brian and Pete watch a timeless story told through the lens of the 1990's.The accents (or lack-there-of)... the wardrobe (I wonder where Game of Thrones got their wardrobe ideas?)...the hairstyles (Don't look now but Joey Lawrence might make a comeback)... they all make. no. sense.
But who cares!!!! Alan Rickman chews all the scenery with the gusto only matched by a 2,000lbs bull stomping the head of a first time runner at the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
There are swords! and bows!! Morgan Freeman has guns!
Well, not the mechanical ones, mind you, but just look at those chiseled arms....
If you like your Scotsmen with a heavy dash of "I don't give a fuck what accent the script calls for, I'm Sean Fucking Connery!", then you will love this movie.

  • DMN E43 - The Untouchables
Pete and Brian discover that Sean Connery was Irish? F-that it doesn't matter if he's Egyptian, Spanish, Babylonian, Irish, Southern, Russian... Sean Connery doesn't give a fuck. Damn this movie was fun. The only thing that might have improved it would have been a cardboard cut out of Kevin Costner reading the lines for... Kevin Costner. We had dreams of Sean Connery doing a one-man show of all the characters in this movie. Life goals and dreams.
If you wanted to see what Al Capone was like then Robert DiNiro is your guy. Everything he did was menacing... even the nice stuff.

  • DMN E42 - Mrs. Doubtfire
Pete and Brian thought they had a sure-fire winner but there only fire in this flick was the dumpster. It's not DARYL... but it's DARYLish...

  • DMN E41 - Good Morning, Vietnam
Robin Williams is supposed to be in a funny movie! We literally had no idea he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in this one. We can sum this one up in one word.
    Somber.

  • DMN E40 - Betteries Not Included
Pete was waaaaay off on this one. For some reason he thought there was going to be kids in it. Nope! Who knew that Spielberg could make a movie that was endearing, heartwarming... and just like visiting grandma's house in the summertime?
    47 min
  • DMN E39 - The Rocketeer
In a world that's totally beige comes a superhero who is also completely sepia. It's the Rocketeer! Join Pete and Brian as they take this romp down memory lane with a Disneyesque villain who is totally scary because he's a Nazi with a pencil thin mustache...
    52 min
  • DMN E38 - The Karate Kid
Pete and Brian weren't too thrilled to do this episode at first.... but then we watched it (mostly)! There are parts that are awesome and there are parts that are Karate-awesome! So much fun. So much terrible. So much awesome.

About Dad's Movie Night

From the publisher's feed

Three dads watching movies from our youth and trying to figure out if they hold up, should they be rebooted, and... should we force our kids to eventually watch them.
