I had something completely different in mind to share gratitude for today, but inspiration touched me just before I spoke it on the call today. Our subject switched to “Gratitude for Natural Light”. I received a text just after the call from one of our live callers and she thanked me because it was the perfect subject for her.
I have learned to follow inspiration the moment it hits and to trust it completely. It is always perfect and keeps me in the most clear and joyful state.
I love natural light so much that my family and I are planning a remodel to let more light in the north and possibly south sides of our home. There seems to be a natural draw to light. If we are indoors, we want to let the light in. If we are outdoors, we want to bask in the sun. Perhaps it is a resonance with the light that exists within each of us that creates the desire to connect with the light.
Natural light creates beautiful shadows in nature and the sun is a permeable source of energy that sinks deep to the center of our being. It soothes and heals us.
Our homes are so appealing that many times we never set foot outside. We know that winter, rain and other periods of long, drawn out being indoors, can cause depression. The sun coming up tends to wake everything up – plants, animals and people.
Light is synonymous with knowledge and understanding. The scriptures tell us that seeking light increases our understanding and increases our light.
“That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day. ” –Doctrine and Covenants 50:24 (scriptural text accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)
In Genesis God says “Let there be light”, which leads to the understanding that darkness existed before light was spoken into existence. Darkness exists until we choose to let light in. Light always has power over darkness.
Just as the sun is not scared to shine its brightest and wake everyone up or chase the rain clouds away, so should we toss out our old beliefs about imposing or being too bright. Shine your brightest! Be You! Especially when you are inspired to shine.
New Ideas to Consider
- I bask in light daily
- I receive the light of inspiration
- I reflect the light of Christ to share it with others
- My light is increasing every day as I share it
- I am increasing my light through wisdom and knowledge from the source of all light
