People don’t talk about possessions, nor their accomplishments. Often, they talk about the people they love the most. The greatest legacy is not what we leave behind—but who we leave behind.

My prayer is that I will leave behind a family that knows God, follows truth, and walks in His ways. There is no greater joy than seeing that kind of legacy continue.

The Bible says in 3 John 4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

That kind of impact doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built day by day. Live today with eternity in mind.

Life gets busy. Schedules fill up. Responsibilities increase. And before long, the most important things can get pushed aside.

In the busyness of life, our spiritual priorities can drop off, but these priorities don’t usually disappear all at once—they fade slowly.

And if we’re not careful, our homes can become full of all that life offers, but be devoid of what matters the most. We must make a deliberate choice to keep God at the center of our lives and homes.

Joshua made this definite decision that God would be at the center. He declared, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

That kind of commitment doesn’t happen by accident. Choose what matters most—and stay faithful to it.

Every family has disagreements, then throw in the mix different personalities, perspectives and growing pressures, and tension can escalate.

When conflict arises, we often want to “be heard” or to “get our point across.” But the key is not about winning an argument. You can win the argument but lose the heart of a child. Rather, the goal in conflict is to develop unity through understanding the other person.

This requires a willingness to listen with patience. The Bible says in James 1:19, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”

Many problems could be avoided if we simply listened first. Then, the key is to respond with grace.

Children don’t just grow—they are guided. Whether we realize it or not, we are always teaching our children. Not only by what we say, but also by how we live our life. They notice what we value, how we respond, and who we trust. The next generation is watching closely.

The influence that God gives us isn’t accidental. We must steward this influence with a purpose. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

The process of training up a child requires that we are intentional. Find ways to direct conversations back to the Lord. You see, if we want our children to follow truth, we must lead them there.

What is the most precious commodity? Time! You cannot make more time; instead, it is limited. And Time has a way of moving faster than we expect.

It seemed like yesterday we held our first child, but now we see him preparing to leave the home. You see, if we are not careful, we will miss the most valuable moments of life.

We don’t realize how valuable those moments were until they’re gone. It’s easy to get busy with work, responsibilities, and schedules—and slowly drift from what matters most.

The Bible says in Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Everyone of us has a limited amount of time. Choose to prioritize your walk with God and your family.

Don’t just spend time—invest it. Make the moments count.

I think most of us understand that no family is perfect. We all have our problems. When those come to the surface, then misunderstandings happen and hurtful words can be said.

The difference between a broken home and a healthy one is not the absence of conflict—but the presence of forgiveness. Holding on to bitterness only deepens the wound. But forgiveness brings healing.

But sometimes, the hardest words to say are also the most powerful—“I’m sorry”… and “I forgive you.”

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:32, “And be ye kind one to another… forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

God commands the act of forgiveness. It is not only humbling, but it is healing. You see, if you have been forgiven, then you should readily forgive others. Don’t let pride keep your home from healing.

Do you remember the saying, “Sticks and stones my break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”

Yet, the truth is words are powerful. A single sentence can linger in someone’s heart for years. That one line forgotten by you will be remembered for a lifetime.

In the home, words don’t just communicate—they create the atmosphere. Encouraging words bring life. Harsh words bring hurt. And often, it’s not what we say—but how we say it.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”

Every day, we’re shaping our homes with our words.

So ask yourself—are your words building up… or tearing down?

Love is often treated like a feeling. But the problem with feelings is they are fickle: they come and go. But strong families aren’t built on feelings; rather, they are built on choices.

There will be days when it’s easy to love, but there are also days when loving takes great effort. In those moments, love becomes a decision — I choose to love, no matter my feelings.

It’s a decision to be patient. To be kind. To put someone else first. The Bible says in Colossians 3:14, “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”

Love is something you “put on.” It’s intentional.

If you wait until you feel like loving, you’ll struggle. But if you choose to love, your home will grow stronger.

In a world full of distractions, one of the greatest gifts you can give your family is simply your presence.

Not just being in the same room—but being engaged, attentive, and intentional.

It’s easy to think big moments matter most, like that big vacation, holidays, or special events. But in reality, it’s the small, daily interactions that shape a home.

Your conversations at the table over a meal shared together, an intentional lesson brought up through life, or a thoughtful gesture at bedtime. All of these things will speak loudly to the heart of a child.

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 6:7, “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children… when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way…”

Influence happens in everyday life. Be there. It matters more than you think.

Have you ever tried to put something together without the instructions? It usually ends in frustration, maybe some extra parts, and sometimes you just have to start over!

The good news for our homes is that God gave us instructions on how to build a godly home. The truth is, the home didn’t originate with culture, trends, or personal preference—it was designed by God. And when we ignore His design, things begin to come apart.

From the very beginning, God established the family as the foundation of society. The Bible says in Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

If we want strong homes, we don’t need new ideas; rather, we need God’s original plan because His way still works.
