Christian employees can raise religious freedom complaints against mandated diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings if those DEI trainings force an ideology on them or make them less able to live out their faith, a prominent religious liberty lawyer tells “The Daily Signal Podcast.”
“There's a lot of push for diversity initiatives and things like that, where you've got to go through these trainings,” Jeremy Dys, special counsel for litigation and communications at the religious freedom law firm First Liberty, says in an interview at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. “Well, a lot of people have genuine religious beliefs that oppose being indoctrinated under those topics.”
Dys joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain more.

President Joe Biden discussed some of the biggest issues on the minds of Americans, from border security to abortion and the economy, in his State of the Union address Thursday night.
But what issues did Biden ignore that he should have talked about?
Were there any unifying moments? And how did members of Congress in the audience respond to the president in his fourth such address?
Cody Sargent, communications director for Heritage Action for America, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to talk about the biggest moments of the night. (Heritage Action for America is the grassroots arm of The The Heritage Foundation, which is the parent organization of The Daily Signal.)

Dr. Eithan Haim was completing his surgical training at Texas Children’s Hospital in the spring of 2023. On a Friday morning in June, just before graduation, a knock came on Haim's door.
“I open it, [and] standing outside there are two federal agents with [the Department of] Health and Human Services,” Haim recalls.
The surgeon says he was told he was under investigation in a case involving medical records. Just one month earlier, Haim had worked with journalist Christopher Rufo to blow the whistle on Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and its gender treatments for minors.
In 2022, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, took steps to ensure that hospitals in Texas weren't performing such procedures. As a result, the Texas Children’s Hospital announced that it had stopped doing the gender procedures on kids; inside the hospital, Haim says, he was seeing a different story.
The hospital “took away all the public-facing indications that the program was still active,” Haim says, adding that “the hospital is telling the public this program no longer exists, but within the hospital, they're prioritizing it to the highest level."
"So the directors of the program that supposedly did not exist were speaking at the hospital's most prestigious lecture series seven months after that statement [in which] they said they were shutting it down," the surgeon says.
Haim joins this episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain why he is so passionate about defending minors from these dangerous medical procedures and standing against what he sees as the federal government's intimidation tactics.

A Christian who faced persecution for her faith in Communist Romania in the 1980s and barely survived an assassination attempt orchestrated by dictator Nicolae Ceausescu warns that the undermining of parental rights in the U.S. today echoes Ceausescu's totalitarian government.
"It's the same system that the socialists use in order for parents to be put in jail that the students, kids, will be taught in school to report their [parents] to school," Virginia Prodan, a human rights lawyer who grew up in Communist Romania but came to the U.S. after President Ronald Reagan secured her release, tells "The Daily Signal Podcast."

Voters in 15 states are headed to the polls or to caucuses Tuesday, in what is arguably the most important day in the 2024 presidential primary season; that is, Super Tuesday.
Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia are all holding primaries. Caucuses will be held in Alaska and Utah.
Ryan Walker, Heritage Action for America executive vice president, says that when you look at the states that have already held primaries, “Nikki Haley has not garnered more than 40% of the vote.” So, Walker says he will be watching to see whether the former South Carolina governor can go beyond that threshold in states voting Tuesday. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation, of which Heritage Action for America is the grassroots arm.)
Former President Donald Trump has already clinched GOP primary and caucus victories in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Michigan, Idaho, and Missouri. Haley won the D.C. primary over the weekend.
Trump got a boost in media coverage ahead of the Super Tuesday voting when on Monday the Supreme Court ruled unanimously in his favor and against Colorado’s efforts to remove his name from the ballot there citing the “Insurrection Clause” of the 14th Amendment. The ruling clears the way for Trump to earn more delegates on Tuesday ahead of the GOP convention in mid-July.
“A state cannot decide if a former president, or a former candidate, is allowed to be on the ballot, especially if they have not been convicted of a crime,” Walker said.
Walker joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what issues are driving voters to the polls on Super Tuesday, and what the results could mean for determining who ultimately will be the GOP nominee for president.
