It took less than 48 hours for protesters to begin burning the city of Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd in May 2020. Law enforcement struggled to control protests as demonstrators set a local police station on fire, looted businesses, and left parts of the city covered in graffiti.

Five and a half years later, Americans wonder if history will repeat itself after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday.

Good, a 37-year-old woman, was an “immigration activist,” according to Fox News, and allegedly was at the scene of ICE operations in Minneapolis on Wednesday in an effort to disrupt ICE activity. When Good was ordered out of her vehicle, a video appears to show Good driving her vehicle toward an ICE agent, who discharged his weapon into Good’s car, killing her.

Protests broke out almost immediately in Minneapolis following the news of Good’s death, but, at least so far, demonstrations have been far from reaching the level of violence and destruction seen in the aftermath of Floyd’s death.

The same Democrat mayor, Jacob Frey, is in power in Minneapolis, and law enforcement were involved in Floyd’s death as they were in Good’s. So what is different now?

On this week’s edition of “Problematic Women,” Daily Caller reporter Ashley Brasfield joins the show as we discuss the events that led to the ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis and why protests have not escalated to the level of violence seen in 2020.

Canada has embraced a culture of death.

America’s neighbor to the north legalized euthanasia in 2016, and since then more than 75,000 Canadians have participated in Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying program. Canada also has no restrictions on abortion and only considers a baby a human after it passes through the birth canal.

Canada has become a “totalitarian wild west,” according to Liana Graham, who grew up in Canada and now works as a research assistant in domestic policy at The Heritage Foundation.

Areas that Canada should regulate, such as abortion and physician-assisted suicide, it does not; instead, it has created stringent regulations around freedom of speech and religion.

On this week’s episode of "Problematic Women," Liana joins the show to discuss the ways America can keep itself from becoming Canada 2.0 and protect the value of life that was intrinsic to America’s founding.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said he was “delighted” when he learned Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is running for Senate. 

“I think it’s one of the greatest things that’s happened to the Republican Party in a long, long time,” Johnson said. 

“I want her to have the largest, loudest microphone that she can every single day, and we look forward to having that election down there,” the House speaker added. 

Crockett, who is viewed as a member of the Democrat’s far-left cohort, officially announced her bid for Senate on Monday. The Texas lawmaker has made a number of claims in the past which Republicans no doubt plan to use against her. 

During an interview with Vanity Fair last year, Crockett indicated she thinks Latino voters have a “slave mentality” when it comes to their view of immigration policy. She also recommended tax exemptions for black people, has called Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “slave patrol,” and has referred to Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is in a wheelchair, “governor hot wheels.”

Republicans appear poised to paint Crockett, and her rhetoric, as the face of the Democrat Party, and while it is unlikely Crockett can pull out a Senate win in deep red Texas, the margin of her support, or lack their of, may prove to be a critical indication of the nation’s political views.

President Donald Trump has made new moves in recent days to crack down on immigration into the U.S. 

After Trump vowed to pause immigration from “developing nations countries,” the U.S. has frozen all immigration applications for foreigners from 19 counties, and is reviewing applications that were approved during the four years of the Biden administration. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed on Fox News Thursday that the list will be expanded to “over 30” nations, but did not specify.  

For now, the list includes: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen.  

The president has specifically criticized the Somalia immigrant population in the U.S. after news broke that a fraud scheme among Minnesota’s Somali population costs taxpayers over $1 billion.  

Additionally, Trump has paused all visas for Afghan nationals after a man from Afghanistan who has been living in the U.S. since the fall of Kabul in 2021 shot two National Guard Members near the White House the day before Thanksgiving, killing U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom.

New York City is giving socialism a try, and Zohran Mamdani has young women to thank. 

If you found yourself in the Big Apple on Tuesday night, you might have witnessed groups of young women sporting “Hot Girls for Mamdani” T-shirts. In one viral video shared on social media following Mamdani's election night victory to become the next mayor of the city, a young woman wearing the blue shirt joked, “Sharia Law starts now,” seemingly poking fun at critics of Mamdani, who is a Muslim.  

The self described “democratic socialist” earned 50.4% of the vote, according to NBC News, beating independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a landslide victory. Young people overwhelmingly backed the charismatic Mamdani, but young women in particular ensured his victory.  

According to Tufts Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, 84% of female voters between the ages of 18—29 backed Mamdani in the mayoral race.  

But why? How did Mamdani mobilize the “hot girls” of the Big Apple to vote for policies that have been tested, tried, and show to fail every time, harming the very working people they promised to help? The answer, though not exhaustive, can likely be found within two explanations.  

First, young people are especially susceptible to ideas that are viewed in the public as “new” or trendy. New York City has never had an openly socialist mayor. Furthermore, socialism is marketable on paper—reeking of empathy and the illusion of serving the poor, which taps on the God given female emotion of compassion. Of course men have this emotion too, but speaking in broad generalities, women naturally have an inclination toward maternal care.  

The second reason Mamdani likely captured New York City’s young female vote was recently pointed out by social media influencer Ashton Cohen. The feminist movement, as Cohen explains in a video on Instagram, promised women happiness and fulfillment if they went to an impressive college, built a powerful career, and rejected marriage and motherhood, instead using sex for pleasure.  

Many millennials and Gen-Z women were raised on the feminist message, and now they find themselves buried under student loan debt, unable to buy a home because of the sky high cost of living, working a job that is not as fun or fulfilling as they thought, and alone because they rejected marriage. Talk about an audience primed for an attractive young politician to come along and promise rent freezes and free buses.  

On this week’s edition of “Problematic Women,” we unpack why Mamdani’s socialist message resonated so deeply with young women, and discuss what this says about the feminist movement as a whole.

It’s Halloween weekend, and nothing is scarier than the possibility of a socialist gaining power over America’s biggest city.

On Tuesday, millions of New Yorkers will have the opportunity to choose the future they want for the Big Apple. Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani, Republican Curtis Sliwa, and Independent Andrew Cuomo are all running to be New York’s next mayor. If the polls are even close to accurate, Mamdani, a candidate who has made promises to freeze rent and introduce government-run grocery stores, will be the next mayor of New York City.

In addition to the Big Apple, voters in Virginia and New Jersey are choosing their next governors on Tuesday.
