Almost every day, it seems as though a Big Tech company has deplatformed another user. User content is blocked or removed continually.
What is being done to hold Big Tech accountable for its actions? What is Section 230 in U.S. law, and does it need to be reformed? How can we protect both free speech and free markets?
“These tech companies have become very destructive in so many different ways, and it is time for Congress to act on behalf of the American people, on behalf of parents, and on behalf of our children and the young generation," Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., says.
Rodgers, who leads House Republicans' task force on Big Tech Censorship and Data, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to answer these questions and explain what Congress is doing to protect Americans' free speech rights on social media platforms.

As gas prices rise, the Biden administration is “looking for someone to blame, and unfortunately they really just need to turn and look at themselves,” Rep. Garret Graves, R-La., says.
The Biden administration “talks about environmental sustainability, [but] they don't think about economic sustainability as well,” Graves says, adding that when it comes to energy policy, President Joe Biden seems to be “governing by emotion, not by fact, science, and economics.”
Graves, who heads the Energy, Climate, and Conservation task force for the House's GOP caucus, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” from the House Republican Issues Conference in Florida to discuss Biden’s mishandling of American energy policy, and what lawmakers can do in the long and short term to lower gas prices and move the country back toward energy independence.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.—Republicans say they have a plan to address the biggest problems facing our country, problems they say the left created.
"We are seeing the results of unified far-left Democrat government and how that's caused an inflation crisis, an energy crisis with the highest prices at the pump in our nation's history, ... [and] a national security crisis with a Russia rising and invading Ukraine," Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, chair of the House Republican Conference, told The Daily Signal at the 2022 House Republican Issues Conference.
House Republicans last week gathered here, just south of Jacksonville, for their annual retreat to discuss their agenda and solutions to challenges across the country.
Joining “The Daily Signal Podcast” from the retreat are Stefanik, the House's No. 3 Republican, and Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., the No. 2 Republican. They discuss GOP proposals to solve the crisis on the southern border, lower inflation, and stop the crime spike in American cities.

What danger does China actually pose to America? How closely are China and Russia working together? Is the Biden administration doing enough to prepare for foreign policy threats?
America and China are in a “global competition for economic and military dominance,” says Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas.
If America does not take strategic action now, our children will be the ones bearing the burden of that tension between China and America, the Texas lawmaker says.
McCaul, the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss how Russia and China view America right now, and how the U.S. can take steps to prepare for international threats.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thompson is making waves. The biological male swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania is dominating his female counterparts in the pool.
Thompson's races have garnered a massive amount of media attention, and an increasing number of Americans are questioning how it's fair that a man can compete with women.
Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America, says that the biological men are destroying women's sports, and that it's simply not fair for female athletes to be forced to compete against them.
"When you have young women who have worked for years, through their careers in high school and you have moms and dads who have gotten up in the dark at 5:00 AM to drive their daughters to swim practice... but now they're being forced to compete against biological men... It's not a fair fight," Nance argues. "They can't win. Ultimately, they cannot win. And Lia Thomas typifies this issue."
Nance joins this bonus episode of "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss a Title IX complaint her organization filed, and how transgenderism is destroying women's sports.

President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson, has come under fire for her positions on child porn sentencing, court stacking, and immigration.
Now David Osborne, CEO of Americans for Fair Treatment, tells "The Daily Signal Podcast" that Jackson has another controversial position: her views on labor.
"Even taking Ketanji Brown Jackson at her best, she's got new judicial philosophies. She's got her own view on the First Amendment and how it should work. She's definitely got her own perspective on how federal sector bargaining should work," says Osborne. "And she's going to bring that to the court. And she may drive some of these issues. I think unions are getting what they're paying for."
Osborne joins the show to discuss those concerns, and what they could mean if Jackson is confirmed to the court.

Free speech is under fire at America's universities. It's an open secret that liberals dominate academia and wield their power with impunity on college campuses.
But recently, radical leftists have become more brazen with their attempts speech and organizations they don't like.
During a recent bipartisan free speech event at Yale Law School, a mob of student protesters shouted down Kristen Waggoner, general counsel of Alliance Defending Freedom.
Protesters were "shouting down the speakers, shouting down some of their fellow students who had conservative views, and then they left and started pounding on the walls outside of the exits at the building, eventually creating what felt like an unsafe environment and the police were called," says Waggoner.
Waggoner joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss what happened at that Yale event, and how free speech is in decline at America’s universities.

Ketanji Brown Jackson may soon become the newest justice of the Supreme Court. Her Senate Judiciary Committee hearing began Monday. Democrats praised the historic nature of her nomination and Republicans raised concerns over her record.
But who is Ketanji Brown Jackson? How would she rule on critical cases if confirmed to the Supreme Court? Will she uphold the Constitution?
On today’s episode of “The Daily Signal Podcast,” we share a conversation from Heritage Foundation podcast “SCOTUS 101,” hosted by Zack Smith and GianCarlo Canaparo. They sit down with Carrie Severino of The Judicial Crisis Network, Ed Whelan of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and John Malcolm of The Heritage Foundation to discuss Jackson's judicial philosophy. They also explain how Republican Senators should handle questions during her confirmation hearing, and what we can learn from her rulings on past cases.

Generation Z is already making its mark on America. Born after 1996, these young Americans came of age in an era of rapid technological change—smartphones, social media, and our interconnected world.
The oldest are already in the workforce while others are in the process of figuring out their careers. Fortunately, there are good organizations to provide the leadership and training for this next generation.
The Fund for American Studies is one of them. It has influenced the lives of thousands of conservative leaders, journalists (including The Daily Signal's own Fred Lucas), and others since its founding in 1967.
The organization is currently recruiting for its summer programs, which include international affairs, public policy and economics, journalism and communications, business and government relations, and leadership and the American presidency. Learn more at DCinternships.org.
On today's show, Roger Ream, president of The Fund for American Studies, explains how his organization is developing the next generation of courageous leaders.

Stan Evans helped build the conservative movement by founding the American Conservative Union, the Conservative Political Action Conference, and establishing the National Journalism Center. He was, in addition, a tremendous journalist and thinker. His book, "The Theme Is Freedom," should be a conservative classic, Steven Hayward observes in his new book, "M. Stanton Evans: Conservative Wit, Apostle of Freedom."
What also made Stan Evans so very unique was his tremendous humor which he used to undermine Progressive moralizing. Hayward notes that a standard liberal critique of America was to say that any country that can land a man on the moon, can enact x progressive policy. Evans's response was "any country that can land a man on the moon can abolish the income tax." Evans once said to the consternation of liberals at Princeton that "I didn't support Nixon until after Watergate. Look, after wage and price controls, Watergate was a breath of fresh air." They were not amused, but we can be and learn from this giant of conservative journalism and institution building.
