News and social media consumption for long periods of time are detrimental to our overall health and success, especially in these times. Do you really think knowing all the bad stuff that is happening in the world because of the pandemic will help you lead a better life?

Of course not. We have almost zero control over things that are being reported on the news channels. But what we have control over is our mind, our thoughts and our actions. And that's why it's best to focus our time, energy and attention on pursuits that elevate us and our lives.

There's a global pandemic going on right now and we're all imprisoned physically to some extent, but that doesn't mean you can veg out in the living room and binge-watch shows and movies for endless hours. Not improving, not growing, not developing yourself is falling behind. And you can't afford to do that in this tough economy and these uncertain times.

You have to prepare yourself for the world when this thing is over, and also for any other adverse occurrences in the future. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Instead of seeing a failure as an insurmountable obstacle, the exceptionalists amongst us view it as an opportunity to learn some crucial lessons, and a chance to tweak their current path or embark upon a completely new one. 

There’s no point in dwelling on our past failures because it’s a sheer waste of our precious time and attention. Instead, it’s best to absorb the lesson that we have learned and attain more clarity as we progress ahead.

In order to achieve financial freedom, we need to take a step-by-step approach. Money can’t buy us happiness but it can help us in living the life that we truly want to live and have our desired experiences. We need to become masters of money. We have to get ourselves in a position to instruct it where to go, and not the other way around.

Comfort escalation comes with its own consequences. And that’s why the yogis, Stoics, Buddhists and minimalists try their best to not get attached to the various comforts that are easily available to them. They know that when we constantly crave for more, it only leads us to despair and disappointment.

Seeking comfort and luxury is not entirely bad, but beyond a certain point, it is futile and doesn’t serve us anymore. We just need to figure out our own thresholds and stay away from the endless pursuit of more.
