Thank God for today. A wonderful Thursday morning to you in the name of Jesus.
Make it a Thursday of thanksgiving, remember the things he has done, focus on his goodness, love and testimony He is given you before and the same God who did yesterday, He is the same today and He is the same forever and He can do it again.
Still talking about those sins, those things we do that jam our dream. Dream jammers and yesterday we read from 1 Sam 13:7-13 and talks about the story of Saul and Samuel. Samuel had given him instructions; they were going to battle against the philistines and the instruction was this; wait for seven days. On the seventh day I will come and offer a sacrifice and you will go into the battle. So, Saul waited for Samuel for seven days. On the seventh day he had not seen him, and he was getting restless. The soldiers were getting restless, there was confusion and fear everywhere and before Samuel came, Saul rushed did the sacrifice himself and that cost him the kingdom. The kingdom was God's dream for him and his household but because of that sin he lost it.
The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1
It says, "We should lay aside every weight and sin that keeps dragging us down". Some things are not necessarily sin, but they are weights, they slow us down and if we are not careful on how we handle they lead us into sin.
Yesterday, we spoke about fear and a lot of us don't believe that fear is a sin. Yes, there is a natural fear that we all have and there is the one that gets into our heart that is a distrust for God. That turns us against God. In the book of Rev 21:8. It talked about fear, it lists the name of people that will not get into the kingdom of God. It spoke about the fearful, unbelieving, liars, sorcerers etc. and says, "this kind of people will not enter the kingdom of God". So, it’s important we give no room to fear in our lives. We are not talking about the natural human fear but there is the fear that is a distrust, that takes over your heart and makes you do the wrong thing.
Today, we will be read from 1 Sam 13:8-9 It says
'Saul waited there seven days for Samuel, as Samuel had instructed him earlier, but Samuel still didn’t come. Saul realized that his troops were rapidly slipping away. So, he demanded, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings!” And Saul sacrificed the burnt offering himself.'
Saul was not patient he couldn't wait for the seventh day like the man of God had instructed and he went on to take the sacrifice himself. Galatians 5:22-23 talks about the fruit of the spirit. It says, 'But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!'
Patience is a fruit of the spirit. King Saul was impatient, he couldn't wait and sometimes we get ourselves in that place. The pressure is building, things are happening, people are shouting, we get agitated and out of impatience we get to do the things we should not do.
Luke 21:19 (NKJV) says “By your patience possess your souls.” By patience take control of your soul.
My prayers for you today is that; You will allow patience to take hold of your life. Impatience will not push you and me to the things we are not supposed to do and will not cost us the dream that God has given to us in the name of Jesus.
