The prestigious GOOD DESIGN award competition selects product designs and graphics from more than 46 nations for design excellence. It is one of the oldest and most recognized programs for design excellence globally. Recently, the award committee named the new Freightliner Cascadia as an honoree in the category of Transportation. To be chosen is a great honor for DTNA, and I’d like to thank everyone who participated in this process.

Daimler announced today that it intends to enter into a joint venture with BMW to create a mobility powerhouse. With this move, two arch-rivals leverage competition and cooperation – at the same time. Here’s the rationale behind this step.

Shared visual features are the twin-louvre AMG radiator grille, muscular front apron and new rear apron with round twin tailpipe trim elements. The interior benefits from an optional fully digital cockpit with distinctive AMG displays and the new generation of steering wheels. The 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine now delivers 390 PS. Together with the fast-reacting AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and rear-biased AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive, it has been possible to further enhance the driving dynamics and agility.

As Technical Director of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport the launch of the new F1 W09 EQ Power+ today has been one of my most exciting days with Mercedes so far. Why? Because our 2018 car is more than a machine – it’s the most advanced Mercedes F1 car ever! At the same time, it represents more than a thousand years’ worth of working hours as well as the team’s hopes and dreams.

In the course of the Intelligent World Drive, the S-Class had toured cities including Cape Town, Melbourne, and Shanghai, meeting kangaroos, koalas, and “free-range” pedestrians, successfully crossing seven-lane intersections, and making hook turns. What could possibly shock it in L.A.?

Most of our first cars don’t actually belong to us - they belong to our parents or another family member. Typically your first car is a hand me down or something that you are just “allowed” to drive.

Innovation arises spontaneously and often in places you expect it least. We at Daimler, too, had to learn that we are not the “Mecca” of innovation but that there are many creative minds located outside of Stuttgart. We are eager to learn and want to change ourselves. No sooner said than done – but now we’re facing a much bigger challenge: the real world.
